I've had an idea stuck in my head about exotics for a long time, and you just put it into words. Exotics should be thematic. Anyone who's played Borderlands knows that there are more types of rarities in guns than you can shake a stick at, but a lot of even the rarest guns were incredibly underwhelming. I love the idea that an Exotic Weapon would be something you build your class around, and not just another okay gun you'll never use you only keep because of it's rarity. Giving Exotics such specific roles really would tell you something about the Guardians that were using them. And since you can only equip one type of Exotic at a time, it says even more about you; "This is the Exotic I've chosen, because it best suits my playstyle." And I think that's really cool.

yes, this is what its about! spot on. Borderlands blew with all the underwhelming "legendary" and "pearlescent" guns which were slightly beefed purples (at least this is true for BL2. In 1, every gun was special. Bouncy bullet guns were exceedingly rare and coveted, some regenerated ammo, don't get me started on the original Chopper...)

The confrence call shotty equipt with the Bee shield was pretty epic rare loot in BL2. Hopefully they have loot like that in destiny. Oh and a question, do we have to farm bosses like Bl2 for exotic gear in destiny?

i had 20 CCs across my characters, and bees were easy to get too. They were OP and made the game less fun. I hope they don't have that level of unbalanced loot. I think the loot will be randomized and not tied to certain bosses. They could be tied to certain chests or mission rewards, like the thorn is for the cabal mars fortress.

I could guarantee that the weiapons and gear won't be like lthat in destiny. But I remember farming bosses for hours and even days just to get a rare drop. If I never got anything as epic as the bee or conference call it would of never been worth it to me. Plus they sent a patch that toned them down.

Oh, dont forget the Hellfire with the Bee shield in BL2. Both equiped was epic too. I worked for most my rare loot, but after a while i just started duping rare loot with other players lol.

Hellfire sucked ass against every enemy except flesh enemies, and it was barely good even against those. BL1's hellfire was so much better and more rewarding to find.

Wait, not the hellfire, it was that maroon one. Either way I worked hard long hours into getting my rare loot and would get a spark of excitement when I killed someone and seen a orange glow on the ground. But that's me. Just can't wait to see what destiny has for exotic and leg weapons and gear!!!

For me, I liked that feeling, but I was always disappointed to see it before I hit max level, because all loot after 3 levels became useless in Borderlands 2, which sucked. I hope they don't implement a system like that. I feel like they won't because of how they stress the importance of emotional attachments to certain guns and how they are a cornerstone of building and distinguishing your virtual identity, bolstered by the fact that you only get to equip one Exotic weapon and one exotic armor piece at a time.

Ohhh you mean the Bitch. Yeah, that was a well-adapted Borderlands 1 legendary made interesting with the rapid-accuracy thing. In the first, it was always element-less but extremely effective, and considered a collector's item. I can't wait either! Id been religiously following the drawing board and scouring the internet for info on leaked Exotic Gear, but to no avail. I like nice things, so the first mode Ill probably do is Raid for rare gear.

Yea the bitch. But Iill def be raiding for rare loot. I want to do that more then anything in the game . It will give me a good understanding what there doing for exotic gear and what kind of challenge it is. Prolly the last three days I'll follow the campaign and dig deep into the multi player. I'm on Xbox one unfortunately :/ But yeah I think acquiring loot and taking on missions for loot will be my primary concern. All other things will be secondary, unless multiplayer proves lucrative with post-game rewards.

haha they don't have the touchscreen though! I'm so used to them, especially after playing a lot of call of duty and other shooters on xbox. Previously, I had a PS3, where I played MW2 and Black ops on, as well as Borderlands 1. I like the xbox design, especially the new controller. I have massive hands and long fingers, so I find the larger controller better suited for me, but that's entirely personal preference. The dual shock 4 is one of the best controllers of all time I think. I'm going to go complete AWOL, isolating myself for 96 hours to thoroughly enjoy the Beta haha.
