I don't mind having no checkpoints. But there should be an option to save and quit and keep your position when you decide to come back, if it is seriously going to last 16 hours.

Won't last 16 hours. No way it can. If your bad but very persistent then maybe 16 hours.

Yeah, 16 hours with no breaks is a pretty unrealistic demand.
