When will they ever learn?
Halo 4 was by far the absolute worst Halo game ever made. Nobody liked it. The campaign was nothing more than a linear, boring mess with a story that's more akin to a creepy fan fiction. The multiplayer was designed by people who hated Halo, and it shows. Don't even get me started on the butchering of Forge.
After the tremendously negative reception, 343i reassured fans that they learned from the mistakes of Halo 4, and they would take community feedback into account for Halo 5.
Yeah, that didn't happen.
The proof is the image above. Obnoxious Halo 4/Battlefield lens flare? Check. Anime inspired art style? Check. Subtitle ripping off another game? Check.
But there's one thing that stands out. Take a look that Battle Rifle the ONI Spartan is holding. Instead of the normal scope we've come to expect, there's Call of Duty-style holo sight. This can only mean one thing...weapon customization straight out of Call of Duty. Can it be any more obvious?
Why stop there? Why not go all the way? They've already promised 60fps (Another Call of Duty staple). How about customizable kill strea...oh I'm sorry...ordinance drops? Add a prone function while you're at it. And make the killtimes less than a second to make the game feel more and more like a twitch shooter.
Halo 5 is looking to be more of a Call of Duty clone than Halo 4 was. I'm not sure if I should be angry or impressed.

I said this before Halo 4 and I'll say it again - How about you wait to see what you're actually getting before yelling and screaming?
-
Lol its funny because its true. 343i have shown over and over again they are a terrible developer.
-
To be fair, it's probably Microsoft notes and influence that are ruining all of your beloved everything.

I didn't know CoD was the first video game to do everything. 2/10

Edited by Citrus raptor: 5/21/2014 1:01:10 PMDon't know if this is some kind of sarcastic parody thread, but I'll take the opportunity to get this out there one again. Thing is, it doesn't matter if you don't like Halo's new direction, cause the vast majority of gamers don't care. They're indifferent to change and will like Halo no matter what it contains, or how it looks or feels. Just look around in this forum and you'll see people defend Halo 4 and every other expanded universe thing, either as better or just as good as Bungie Halo. Halo 4 sold millions and Halo 5 will sell millions. Master Chief could have an emotional breakdown and cry, and fans would just praise 343I for making him more human and not just a machine or whatever. Halo 5 could incorporate roleplaying mechanics and loot, and it would just be seen as a natural evolution of the franchise, cause Halo isn't inherently a shooter. It could be a mix between various popular games like Borderlands and Mass Effect, and it would still be thought of as Halo, cause--- The employees at 343I don't care cause they've got the opportunity to see whatever ideas they have realized through Halo. Most people who complain buy it anyway and most people who buy it just do so to play a new action game. No one cares. What do you think complaining will lead to, 343I suddenly acknowledging that it isn't Halo anymore? (The irony of me pointing it out in a way that's kind of a complaint in it self, is not lost to me).

Personally I think it's great that 343 worked so hard at coming up with such an original art piece to really capture the..... Oh wait. Never mind.

I liked Halo 4.

You caught your limit on that bait. Noice!

>people asking this seriously

I can't tell if this is some kind of elite troll or if just super opinionative.

Grow up, lad. Really.

Edited by banj0: 5/23/2014 9:18:26 AMI think you're overreacting a little, but the 60fps shit does put me off (not because it's technically unappealing but because the sacrifices that will be made to achieve it).
-
The Battle Rifle scope looks almost the same as in Halo 4. A little box-like scope that is larger in front. Same thing.
-
That really does look like a COD ACOG scope or a holo sight. I swear to god if it is that will be the last straw. How could they possibly think after all of the crap talk about halo 4 being a COD ripoff to change the BR scope to a COD scope.
-
OP could be right about Halol 5, he could also be very wrong. No one will know until they release more details. One thing OP did get right, Halol 4 sucked. Monetarily it was a success. It also succeeded in killing off the player base. Will people still buy Halol 5 in the same quantities that they bought 4? Depends on how bad the damage lingers.
