Because Dead Orbit threads are intended to attack people and are genuinely an issue regarding people being mean to each other, right? If you have not just been joking about having an issue with those threads, then you really need to take a step back. Those are in good fun at nobody's expense. They do not try to attack others. They are simply for essentially role-play, regardless of you liking them or not. If you are going to equate that to intentionally attacking others consistently then there is a problem there.

You're taking this way too seriously. I'll admit, the Dead Orbit threads back then were overly annoying and there was widespread disgust from the faux elitism that they portrayed. It got really old, really fast. The offtopic / Flood BS going on is no different. It's just different people needlessly bantering on more faux elitism. The only difference is the ferocity and total disregard some individuals have and do not put a governor on their 'should I post this or not'. But overall, they are not that different from what you guys were/are doing.

They are not the same at all, and thinking otherwise is why I said you are taking it too seriously, rather than I. One is intended to legitimately insult others. One is a roleplay. One is actually insulting others. One is not. That makes all the difference. Roleplay is not offensive. Calling people stupid is.

I compared to things that appeared to have the same BS context, that prompted the comparison. You obviously take offense to ANYONE who thinks that the Dead Orbit nonsense was/is childish and can not take constructive criticism on it, even though you know all along whenever I made note of it i the past was in fun. Dead Orbit > other factions Flood > Offtopic Either scenario is as dumb as the other. No exceptions.

What is this, a "No you are too serious" argument? There is a difference between banter and attacks, and Burrito explained that clearly enough early on. If one were offended by those threads, then their perspective about the situation was misshapen. As far as I saw, nothing harmful was ever said during that phase. The Offtopic/Destiny nonsense is entirely different with the harsh, unnecessary and completely inappropriate things that are being said. Destiny minds its own business yet one group actively seeks out confrontation over the issue. The clan/guild banter only involved those who willingly "played the game."

Then again, I don't get involved with it because it is stupid to begin with. But what I had seen was non-toxic for the most part. I also may have the harsh remarkers muted, and why I have never seen anything inflammatory.

I will admit that I don't feel it is as [i]frequent[/i] of a problem as Burrito seems to sound it is, which I somewhat addressed in my direct reply to the OP, but it does happen now and again and it is rather caustic.

There is a ton of stuff I have seen as what I would consider toxic, garbage, filth, despicable, and complete and total disregard for decency toward others on this forum before that don't get banned as I would think they should. Like I said, I have those particulars who do this frequently muted, though none of it was ever aimed at me personally. I simply give no time to people who act in such a pathetic manner.

Banning should not be everyone's go to response to improve this site. Most of us are adult and do not require babysat, so I've always been in the school of thought of encouraging members to be better to each other and leading by example.

Do you honestly believe some of the worst offenders here will ever stop their egregious behavior simply by encouraging them to be decent? I gave up on that theory some time ago in their cases.

I am not worried about the worst offenders, I am worried about the ones that follow them. The worst offenders burn themselves out in due time.

But comparing those threads to posts that are legitimately created solely for the purpose of attacking other people is something I would take offense to, yes. The first is said as a joke in good fun. The latter is not said at all. What is said instead of the latter is 'this particular group of people as a whole are idiots.'
