That's a very sad display and indicative of a general shift in attitude among feminist circles. There is a shift happening as equality becomes closer to a reality. What started as an equal rights movement is turning into a gender supremacist movement. True Feminism means that the followers want women to have the same rights men do. No more, no less. What is shown here is that they are tolerating no dissension in their ranks, and are willing to quash debate and talk that isn't "Party Line."

  • I am VERY happy that you stated the nature of feminism the way you did. What you said was that "true feminism means that the followers want women to have the same rights men do". Too many times have I heard self-proclaimed feminists try to say that feminism is about working from both ends to create equality wherever possible between the two sexes. The way you said it, where you correctly state what feminism was originally about, was based on the assumption that women have "less" or are working from a "lower" position to bring themselves closer "upwards" or to "gain" what men have to create equality. As soon as people grasp this correct definition, the sooner I can explain to them exactly why I am not a feminist but an equalist (or egalitarian, or humanist). Feminism = woman are treated worse than men so we need to get them "up" to the level of men in society. Equalism = men and woman are both treated in ways that are not universally or objectively measurable, therefor it is impossible to say that one is more subjugated or mistreated than another.
