This was something that was discussed often before the PS4 and Xbox One's release. Many people had come to the conclusion that PS4 had better hardware, but the Xbox One had better software. This definitely has a significant impact on things since unlike a consoles hardware, software can be updated and upgraded over time. We are definitely seeing this coming to bite Sony in the back, however I am sure they are working on or at least going to be working on something similar for the PS4. I have no issue with both consoles, but I prefer the Xbox One.

Software can't compensate for hardware.
-
That depends on both the quality of the software, and the quality of the piece of hardware it would be upgrading.
-
Software can only optimise the hardware available, thus making it easier to develop for. So again, software can't compensate for hardware.

"Who would trade life for pancakes? That doesn't even make any sense?" "That depends both on the quality of life, and the quality of the pancakes."

It is a quote from Stranger Than Fiction. It is a good movie, you should watch it.

It was hardly relevant. And if you were using it as an analogy, then it was terrible.

Nah, I just thought of the quote and felt compelled to let everyone here know it.
#DealWithIt
Sony doesn't play as much of a role in OpenGL than Microsoft does with DX12.

Plus both same price in UK so I'm getting xbox

I've heard that hardware wise the two are almost identical.

What are the differences?

Edited by BannedLemön: 4/14/2014 11:44:49 PMThe GPU in the PS4 is nearly twice as powerful than the GPU in the Xbone. The GDDR5 RAM in the PS4 can move more data faster than the DDR3 RAM in the Xbone. As you can see, it's a significant difference.

Ahhh I see, thanks for the info ill have to look into it for any other differences :)
