Aaaaaand Microsoft walks off of the stage with their tail between their legs. This is the beginning of the end of the metro crap. The rest of Windows 8 lifecycle will be spent undoing most of the major changes that they tried to implement.
tl;dr They have finally realized that Windows 8 is dead and that their best bet is to slowly convert it into Windows 7 ²

I wouldn't bet on that. Microsoft's new [url=http://www.theverge.com/2014/4/2/5574596/microsoft-universal-apps-run-across-windows-tablets-phones-pcs]universal apps[/url] initiative will allow a single app to run on all 4 Windows form factors. Not exactly a sign of abandoning Metro.
