  • Meh, I haven't played a game online for months. Not that I'm Verizon covered, but if it works for them all other providers will adopt it.

    • "heavy net users to should pay more for internet" Yup just like how rich people should pay higher taxes right? Yeah that liberal mindset can get the -blam!- out of here. Everybody should pay the exact same for internet.

        • Tek Syndicate talking about this issue. The ISPs are basically trying to get everyone to pay more for their data. US ISPs should be way more regulated than they are now.

            • Verizon is bullshit, and we already pay more than others because we use more data, whoever decided to make this a thing is a assholle and needs to be made example of.

Just don't tell them you're a gamer. It's like when you do your taxes and it asks you if you made any online purchases. "Nope!"

              • At this point, it sounds like everybody who isn't just casually browsing the web and not using 1mbps of bandwidth is gonna get -blam!-ed by the destruction of net neutrality. We pay all this money for higher bandwidth limits and speeds, yet were gonna get billed extra for using it. -blam!- off.

                    • I'd like to see how they would pick gamers out from all internet users. Sure they could just offer us better deals at higher speeds, but here in Australia, I highly doubt it.

                      • It would be extremely hard to classify a user as a gamer based off data usage and spreadsheets alone. The amount of time and data used a gamer on the average would expend is about the sane as someone who watches alot of youtube or Netflix for example. Like on my phone I watch alot of youtube. My latest data report for Feburary was 20 gb's of data which is alot for a hour or so a day. I bet my ps4 and pc gaming combined would equal that amount easy. Thats because both youtube and netflix eat ridiculous amounts of data these days. Thats why if you have a limited data plan you most likely avoid videos as much as you can. Nothing short of a voluntary survey asking if you game or not would be able to tell the difference. And even those are flawed. This will probably never happen and is probably being proposed by someone who thinks gaming is evil or something.

I can't even see them being able to tell who is classified as a "gamer." Sounds like more of an excuse to raise prices on people in general.

There's no way to classify a "Gamer" What a pathetic excuse to raise their prices. Of course, however, your clueless average Joe doesn't understand games, so they agree with this notion because they were persuaded with this BS information.
