"Space magic" is just a cute community nickname for the Traveler's power. Which we, as Guardians, harness and utilize. I think some people just like to over-think things. I'm looking at you Star Wars. Who cares why the force exists.

You easily could have gotten away with offering a surface level explanation of The Force and it wouldn't have drastically effected the lore. My point is that the franchise over-explained the existence of The Force to appease its hard-core fanbase.

  • All I can say is that I'm happy to be relatively certain The Traveler's "Space Magic" doesn't come down to something as disappointing as what were effectively germs infecting the Guardians.

  • I don't think you fully understand the lore or EU of the Star Wars universe. It's not an over-explanation when it is one of the driving factors of the series. A jedi is nothing without the force. The characters may as well not have existed if you gave it a pathetic and weasly excuse to have backflips and laser deflections. The Force is not comparable to Space Magic. The Force is an actual driving and important entity in the Star Wars universe. It is essentially it's own character and was to begin with important. It is very important to the series.

Honestly, we made it through 3 movies, dozens of games and countless books without having to deal with midichlorians... If that was the source of the Jedi & Sith's power, then either side could have wiped the other out long ago simply by offering free flu shots for everyone.

  • Yes, because midichlorians can be purge with a vaccine.
Yes, because midichlorians can be purge with a vaccine.
Exactly! The Star Wars universe had been humming right along for 25 years with the understanding that the Force was, in the words of Ben Kenobi, an energy field that permeated the universe. Then, suddenly, the Phantom Menace comes along and tries to retcon the Force... Really George? As if cutting Han Solo's nuts off by making Greedo shoot first, making us suffer through Jar-Jar Binks, AND turning one of the most iconic movie villains in history into a flaming pussy weren't bad enough, you also expect us to accept that a Jedi's power comes from probiotics?? Really?

  • Well, I, for one, do not consider Lucas cannon.

  • At one time, George Lucas had the final word on what was canon in the Star Wars universe. Now JJ Abrams does... Go figure.

  • That was before George Lucas decided to sell his right. Fron what I've read, Lucas has done more to harm his series than foster it's growth. Everything Star Wars has been degrading since the 2000's imo. Now LucasArts has been gutted. At least DICE is handling Battlefront. Maybe now we'll finally see a new Rogue Squadron game.
