So now that Titanfall is Public...

... At least for the Xbox One, I don't feel bad about sharing stuff about it. Loving this game, and had an awesome moment a few minutes ago where I basically got a Perfection Medal in their version of Team Slayer (over 15-0, win the game, good stuff). Adoring this game. Originally I was scared it would play like Call of Duty, since it was 'Call of Duty with parkour and mechs.' But after playing I realized... this plays absolutely nothing like that game, nor any other game I've played thus far. Surprisingly, it's a unique twist on some old concepts and is incredibly fun. I'll definitely be picking it up now. So who'll be actually buying this thing? A shame it comes out the same day as Dark Souls 2, but ah well. Glad to see a military shooter mixing up the formula so much. Also totally sharing an awesome DIVEUH-KICKUH moment I had in the link. I like how the game tells me it was awesome when it was actually something awesome, rather than just every time I kick a guy. Pretty legit, there. This is a game that is really good at making you feel... well... good.

  • I've played a few rounds when I manage to pull myself away from Bf4. The controls are identical so it flows really well, and I felt pretty familiar with it after a few rounds. I honestly feel too familiar with it, it reminds me of a watered down armored core revamp with a killzone feel to it, but in a good way. I am just really hoping for more when the full version comes out, I hope there are a ton of customizations and even different skins, since they've scrapped campaign ( tries not to explode about ppl scrapping co op campaign ) . I like it, but im not in love with it. Id always be down for some OTK rounds tho ! As far as awesome moments go I had a melee kill on an ejecting pilot as he was landing that was pretty sweet ! - KN

  • I had some awesome moments myself. Like when my titan's explosion killed another Titan. This was pretty awesome too.

    • Pilot: Suppressed assault rifle -holo sight (H sight is good too, not a fan of AOG though) Auto .45 Sidewinder Cloak Arc Grenades Power cell (You need a suppressor or else everyone's going to be homing in on your big red dot on the map - plus the AR is effective close to long range. Powercelled cloak allows you to cloak often, allowing you to get that first shot off which changes the ride of a gunfight quickly, but Stim is acceptable as well. Arc grenades can ruin Titan shields and a sidewinder to an Atlas' weak spots can ruin it's health, thus this class is anti-pilot anti-grunt and anti-Titan at most effective ranges) Titan: Chain gun - accelerator Electric smoke Rocket barrage Nuclear meltdown Auto-ejection (Chain gun accelerator is effective at long range (low RPM) and short range (high RPM), electric smoke kills boarding pilots, as well, a double dash + electric smoke + high rpm chain gun + rocket barrage + auto eject from nuclear meltdown = ultimate suicide Titan) These are how I keep my win percentage and K/D high. Also: lern 2 parkour, lern 2 flank, maintain the high ground but avoid silhouetting yourself on skylines, push their spawn, don't head to head a Titan as a pilot without sufficient gear (arc grenades + sidewinder), something distracting it, and sufficient cover for when it spots you

      • I expected to play it for an hour, dislike it and move on, but I have been pleasantly surprised and I'm enjoying it. 4 hours logged so far and I'm currently considering buying it...

        • I played my first match after a work shift when I was really flat... and got utterly curb-stomped. Since then I've played several more matches and fallen in love with the game as I got to grips with it. It does feel similar to other FPSs, particularly the Infinity Ward 1.0/Respawn CoD games... At least until the light goes off in your head and you start to exploit the wall running, double jumping, Titan riding and Titans. Once you get that it changes things up quite a bit - you start watching the roofs, windows, stairs, depressions, basements, etc. The weapons are interesting and varied, and there's definitely depth to using them - particularly the smart pistol. Even the Titans have more to them than meets the eye - originally you kinda think you need to be in them and will be a near invulnerable lumbering behemoth... But you VERY quickly realise the reality is almost completely different - you're a big target, need to find cover, have to keep moving, and are vulnerable to enemy titans and pilots (with their anti-titan weapons and ability to jump on your back and start shooting your power core). In a superficial way it reminds me of Bungie's statement in regards to Destiny that "something can be powerful... so long as there's a way to deal with it." I'm really looking forward to this coming out in full.

          • i feel bad that i had two extra codes but by the time i got them the beta went open. It feels pretty fresh (but the gunplay doesnt feel that great, feels like a generic shooter with the exception of the futuristic weapons) Running around the map while taking out titans then getting in them is a great experiance. I just hope they have a great selection of maps and unique weapons because it still feels like its missing something.

          • It's cool. However, Titanfall doesn't hold my interest. I had more fun playing Halo Spartan Assault. Which isn't even all that enjoyable. I also can't see it being a CoD Killer. After a few matches of Titanfall, I got bored and left to go play Halo Spartan Assault. And after that, I went to go play CoD Ghosts. So Titanfall is cool, but that's about it.

              • I love it. I might wait for the price to drop for a bit, but it feels like a mix between Halo, CoD, Mirror's Edge, and Battlefield... mixing up the formulas. My only complaint is that the matches are too short

              • I'm trying to reserve judgement. I don't know how much auto-aim there is on consoles, but on PC it seems that unless you're rocking heat seeking bullets you might as well not even try when facing someone else using that gun. I am no stranger to FPS. This game though seems like it has some balancing issues. The run and gun parkour nature lends itself to up close and personal, the default rifle feels quite useless in the sandbox.

              • This game is truly a breath of fresh air. I was worried it would be CoD with mechs as well, but I'm pleasantly surprised. While it does take elements from CoD and Halo, its a totally different beast. The vertical game play and being allowed to move in XYZ axis adds an entirely different aspect to FPS'. CoD has its work cut out for it, I'd be willing to call Titanfall THE CoD killer.

              • Is there an ability that let's you start off the match in a titan? That happened to me earlier, and apparently no one on my team knew that you have anti-titan weapons, as I was the only one trying to kill him...

                • Since I'm not very experience with many games, my friend explained it like this..
It's like the handling of COD mixed with Mirror's Edge, ShadowRun, and an actually enjoyable Mech game.
I'm having a blast playing it. But at the back of my mind is - wow if this is it, it might get a bit stale after a while. I've never really played CoD so I cant make that comparison. Even after 2 days I notice a drastic turn of tactics. Whereas the first couple of days it was fast flowing and unpredictable. Then the invisible campers with their shotguns found their form, now every hallway and room is infested with them. And the snipers found their two favourite spots on each map, and get into pissing competitions with the other teams snipers after the mad dash to the centre of the map after the drop ships. I think Respawn will continually need to change the game up to keep it fresh. Maybe even introduce a 3rd fighting or environmental element, that keeps it unpredictable.
