Nintendo is trying, I'll give them that.

Nintendo released some info on what they're working on to try to turn around their flailing business model. Nintendo's Five Potential Fixes Will it work? Only time will tell.

I know this sounds terrible, but I hope they fail. I want them to stop making consoles and just make video games. So I can finally enjoy Mario, Zelda, and Metroid without having to buy their crappy consoles. The only reason I buy their consoles is for their games, that's it. They would probably make so much more money this way. Please pull a Sega, Nintendo. Sega has joined the multi-plat side, you should too.

    • I'm just really interested in the end result. They apparently have billions of dollars in reserves, but burning insane amounts of money from those reserves could potentially screw them over... Hopefully they've learnt some sought of lesson out of it. Whatever that lesson may be.

      • Here's five potential fixes that would help. -abandon the wiiu -focus more on 3DS systems -Either work on making good games out of the mountains or IPs they have lying around (that is, STOP MAKING REHASHES) and/or... -...lease out IP's to compotent developers; and for god's sake, release on a platform that people actually own -Actually market your games - W101 could've easily been a system seller, but instead it's practically a sleeper hit. Boom, Nintendo is at the very least a relevant brand name that wont go under.

      • They should also be taking their hardware and applying it to other markets. As an example, it's possible to use a Wii remote as a mouse pointer for a projector screen. Which gives me the idea of special peripherals to play Nintendo games on other devices.

      • Nah it won't work until they scrap the hardware and sell the games to Microsoft ad Sony

Everyone who says they need to ditch the Wii U and make a new console just need to remember Sega. They just need to wait it out for the next 7 years, making 1st and 3rd party exclusives and marken the hell out of them, and the next console needs to be focused on hardcore hardware and gamers. Looking at the Twitter page of Nintendo makes me believe they are just trying to kill off Nintendo.

            • They've also that they're considering the possibility of being acquired or merging. I've never been one to say they should leave the hardware business- I like that their consoles can fill a sort of "supplemental" role behind an Xbox or a Playstation- but I'd rather they go 3rd party by themselves than merge or be bought. It's the option with the least risk of ruining their IP.

            • Still think if they made there whole gaming catalog available for download for a certain fees sorta like Playstation now it would help there sales increase. I would so be all over a Nintendo Wii u if I could download some of the classic from my child hood

                • I don't see how any of those solutions are going to fix the company because none of them address the problems with the company. -Shitty special needs console because they are screaming "MUH INNOVATION!" -Treating third party developers like shit because their first party IPs will surely bail enough water out of the boat. -Friend Codes. WTF is this shit Nintendo?

                  • Growing competition from mobile devices against their handheld is hurting them? Even if the growing part is true, I think we can all agree that the 3DS isn't dying or even close to it anymore.
