Okay, everybody clicked on this thread hoping to read an idea that will boost their excitement for Destiny, so that is what I will present to you
It will be an amazing feature if your Guardians armor, clothes and weapons start to crack, rip and develop scratches on them as you use them overtime. For example, its September 9th and everybody sets off on their journey, you find a nice combination of armor, clothes and weapons and you put them on and go on with your adventure fighting a number of PvE and PvP battles.
Your good at protecting your head because you know how to move but you are not so good at protecting your body. Overtime you will start to see the armor on your body start to have cracks and scratches on it and etc. You get the point right?
This will not affect gameplay at all for it is only an appearance purpose to show that you have been putting in hard work and you have been through hell and back, also the process of getting the damaged look is slow but not too slow. You have to play several games and get into several battles to even start noticing little scratch marks so it wont be a hassle or a chore to repair/renew your equipment; it wont bother you every 5 minutes or so. Your equipment will not break or fall off because, like I said, this is only for appearance purposes only. You can pay a small amount of glimmers to renew/repair your armor to make it look new again, or you can leave it to make yourself look more badass (like having a ripped up cape for your hunter). Also, you can repair each equipment separately, so you can decide to fix you helmet but leave your cape ripped up. Bungie said Destiny is about telling your story and where you have been and what you have been through, so I don't seen any reason they wouldn't add this feature. Comment below and tell me what you guys think. Keep this thread live so comment below!

Edited by Livid: 7/28/2014 3:31:21 PMBut they already have a cape that looks ripped up and damaged for the hunter class, its called Rustworn Cloak. Check my gear. Which leads me to believe there are similar items in the full game. This idea of yours will probably never happen.

Maybe in destiny 2. I'd love it but it seems like it'd be a lot of work to add in.
-
Yes, Yes, Yes. this is great
-
Make it so! :-)

A very nice idea, until you bring up multiple types of armor, from 3 different classes, with different color options. Not necessarily easy at all. Would be too much work with what is already included in Destiny.
although hell, it'd be beautiful.
-
simple..? Maybe you take a closer look into programming such things...
-
+1 Would love to have some ripped of and dusty legendary capes!
-
Addition in DLC. Please destiny
-
I think they should add speech bubbles over the head of the guardians like they did in phantasy star universe that would help solve a lot of the communication problems
-
Brilliant idea!! I imagine it'd be somewhat of a pain in the ass for the programmers though right? I would love to see this if possible though! It'd be epic.
-
I would rather have an armor type for this innately. I would like for my Guardian to look prestigious with well kept armor. I don't dislike the idea, I just don't like it's delivery.
-
My warlocks trench coat was already showing holes and few bottom parts of it were missing after a while. So i think they already put it in that the clothing looks used and all
-
That would be hard for the devs....

Even if it's just a cosmetic change that'd be neat. Having a Guardian that looks like they just went through the ringer after getting out of the Vault of Glass and such. I think it'd be neat if your Guardian just got out of a major mission like a Strike or Raid and you LOOK like you've been through hell once you get back to the tower. Again, I'm in favor of making this cosmetic only or maybe being a feature that can be turned on and off if people want their armor looking ever-pristine. I would personally love to run around in a blood and mud-spattered cloak with cracked armor pieces and such. Real warriors don't wear all their protective gear and have everything shiney and new. Real warriors have modded their own kit and everything looks like they just barely got it back in tact.

I like the idea, but would it really be great? When you suggest that, ofc everyone want to game to be more "realistic", and nice unique features, but one day everyone will be complaining that its getting annoying nd they want a clean suit and not always having scratch on their armor.
-
Great Idea!
-
It's a great idea for destiny 2 or a patch down the road.
-
Bro...what a great idea! And it makes so much sense, the only things is implementing it in the games. Would be awesome to see though
-
best idea anyone has had onere. bump

Edited by Branboni1: 7/22/2014 7:42:26 PMI love this idea man. Bump.
-
I agree. They should have a way to refresh the appearance as well. I'm all for looking battle worn.
-
This is a very interesting idea. Sounds like a really cool effect.
-
Tickle my nipple with a feather! This is a great idea!

Edited by Doc SoCal: 7/22/2014 7:28:03 PMAgreed. Folks that have been in a fight should look like they have been in a fight. Heck, I would not mind a Fallout style gear wear and tear system that DID require repairs, just not as extreme. If anyone is interested in being a part if a new Destiny community, I just turned on the lights here: http://www.destinystation.com

its a good idea but it just makes game play worse as you have to continuously fix your armor.
-
Ain't nobody got time to keep fixing there armour every mision bad idea
