You're mad that Legolas is in the film? They go to Mirkwood and meet Legolas' father, so why wouldn't Legolas be in it?

Because he's not in the book...

So it's like bringing in Captain Keyes in the Halo 2 remake. He was never there, nor should he be.
-
That's a horrible comparison. Captain Keyes was killed in Halo CE while Legolas, son of the Elvenking Thranduil, was implied by Tolkien himself to have been present for the events of The Hobbit. Adding him to the story was the right decision, though in my opinion he was given too much to do.
-
Well the Rookie then. He was present during New Mombasa. Doesn't mean he should be in Halo 2.
-
Edited by GKR: 12/31/2013 12:46:47 AMHe couldn't be added to Halo 2 considering he entered New Mombasa after the In Amber Clad, and Master Chief with it, followed the supercarrier into the slipspace rupture. Legolas can be added into the adaption since he was confirmed to be present for the events Bilbo witnessed rather than entering the scene after the departure of Thorin and Company.
Legolas, son of the Elvenking Thranduil, was implied by Tolkien himself to have been present for the events of The Hobbit.
I'm using your logic here. The Rookie was present during the supercarrier slipspace rupture. Was he prominent? No, but he was most definitely there.
-
Edited by GKR: 12/31/2013 1:01:53 AMI guess he could be given a 10-second cameo at best with the failed drop, but this is getting off-topic. I still stand by my opinion that he is not out of place, though his role in the movie is more prominent than I would prefer.
-
It's not similar at all, but I get your point.
-
So just because he wasn't in the book means he didn't exist until lotr? He was in Mirkwood so he should be in the movie.
-
I didn't say he shouldn't exist until LOTR. Don't put words in my mouth. He is canonically out of place. He's not in the book. End of.
-
he was in the same location at the same time, though he wasn't referenced in the book. why not have him in the film? who doesn't want to see legolas again? why does the film have to exactly follow the book?
-
He is not canonically out of place because he is supposed to be there he just isn't mentioned in the book.
-
Edited by Roose Bolton: 12/30/2013 11:05:13 PMBoromir and Aragorn aren't referenced in the book either, but it doesn't mean they should be there as well. Go be retarded somewhere else.

You are so dumb.
