Brilliant. Beautiful. Amazing. All of Eleven's plots tied up in a neat bow(-tie). Just a shame the regeneration was so quick.

Edited by Roose Bolton: 12/25/2013 10:37:04 PMEhh, I felt they could've cut down on the exposition a bit, and the whole Christmas town thing came out of bloody nowhere. But other than that it was solid-ish, but not the best finale or Christmas episode I've ever seen though.

Edited by Tartan 118: 12/25/2013 10:46:27 PMThing is, Moffat had so much plot to tie up compared with RTD, exposition was inevitable. I love(d) how much more complex and meaningful Moffat's writing is, even if the explanations tend to be predictable. This one wasn't, though. If I'm honest, I was very satisfied with it all. I also figured that military gang was The Silence. That origin story was very cool. The town called Christmas was pointless, mind. And the whole Truth Field thing was a bit of a cop-out too, for that part of The Silence's prophecy.
Thing is, Moffat had so much plot to tie up
Not meaning to go on a big tirade over the quality of Moffat's work, but that was his own doing. I'd rather have a series of mini continual story archs per season as opposed to one giant arch that spans 3 years. When you decide to bring that in, plot points start intertwining with each other and the quality of the series is just a big convoluted cluster f*ck. Sure it's nice when it's all tied together, but was it really worth it in the end?

Edited by Tartan 118: 12/25/2013 10:53:27 PMYes. If anything, series 7 was the worst of the bunch because it was so disconnected and un-serialised. There were far fewer plot threads and compelling mysteries and satisfying payoffs than in the previous two. Did this make up for it? Not quite: you can't leave so much of a series void of meatiness and stuff it all right at the end.
