I used to play all the time but I did notice more quitting. I never understood why people left because they had recruits on their team, everybody needs to start somewhere and so what they are not very good, under good leadership and player skill they learn how to play, get points and you can show off a bit. Many times I have been forced to turtle in 1v1 games and time my counter attack which enables me to steam roll the enemy and taking 2-3 bases in quick succession and win. Hell if I go 1v1 against a recruit I just use cyclops, I feel bad when I do that and they struggle to counter them.
