Quick question can you cause the same damage with another item?
English
-
propane tank, fertilizer, road flare... Or I could drive my truck through a crowd. If someone is sick enough to want to kill another person, or lots of other people, there are other ways of doing it.
-
You can cause more. Much more.
-
No but the the thing is with them legal people can use them defensively which nothing else is as effective either.
-
But who are the "legal people"?
-
I forgot a comma after legal. But to answer your question, a shop owner or person using the weapon for defensive measures rather than offensive criminal matters.
-
Only problem is that you can never know what the firearm will be used for in advance, so there is no way to tell who is or will be a law abiding and responsible citizen.
-
And? Because a few people abuse it we should ban it? Guess we outta ban alcohol and cars because we don't know who's the alcoholic or who will speed or use it to escape a crime. Most people won't and it's hard to know who will use it for the wrong reason. But there are more good people who will use it responsibly than those who will use it for the wrong reasons.
-
We both know that there is a big difference between regulating something like alcohol and a tool that anyone can use to gain control over pretty much every situation and potentially kill dozens of people with relative ease. Different products, different measures.

I was arguing your point of how do we know who is and isn't a criminal. We for the most part don't. But that doesn't mean we should restrict access to everybody because of what a fraction of a percent of gun owners use their guns for. Just seems like an emotional response rather than logical. 60 million people didn't misuse guns but because 2-3 mentally unstable people and several thousand gang bangers killing each other, people want to punish the 60 million.
