Possible inspiration for the ODSTs? I wouldn't be surprised, Sci Fi works take inspiration from other Sci Fi works all the time. Hell, Halo took quite a bit from the Alien franchise.

Well it is a classic scifi novel, but it does seem that someone recently created a new front cover for the Kindle version of the book and rather than creating something original they just decided to rip off Bungie's ODST design instead.
