Batman For any of my reasons to make sense, you must accept only one fact: Batman is smarter than Superman, especially in the tactical/combat sense. If you cannot accept this, then you are to stubborn to see reason, and there is little hope for you First of all, Batman and Superman never had a one on one fight with no outside help or modifiers in a comic book. However, that doesn't mean we can't have this argument. Some people (Gojira) just say that superman would just go and beat the -blam!- out of Batman, Because he is physically superior in every way. He is. And a fight is just a measure of physical capability, right? Wrong Who would win in a fight, Batman or a Tiger? Obviously Batman Superman or Doomsday? Superman, duh, it happened Batman vs. Solomon Grundy Batman. Detecting a pattern? The Batman is weaker than a tiger or solomon grundy, and Superman is weaker than Doomsday. But the reason they win is because they are smarter than their enemies. The smarter man wins is shown in many stories, like David and Goliath and even the Tortoise and the Hare. Not only does this appear in stories, but in real life. Sun Tzu, perhaps the most well known tactician ever, has many great quotes. Go to this link and you will see many things that almost perfectly describe Batman. My favorite is "Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate." Who else describes that? To be fair, I need to put in a real life quote for Superman too:"The most effective way to do it is to do it." Seems to describe Superman fairly well, right. Well guess whose quote that was. It was Amelia Earhart's. So it doesn't work out that great in real life. The smarter man always wins is even prevalent in superman comics. Why do you think Superman doesn't fight Lex Luthor as much anymore? Because the writers realize how ridiculous the plots would have to be for Superman to beat him. THE SMARTER MAN WILL WIN. which is when people say "Batman wins because he's Batman" they are stating that Batman is smarter than his opponent, always. That is such a part of Batman that he isn't the same without it.

  • Superman is scientifically smarter than Batman. Batman is tactically smarter than Superman. Regardless, no amount of planning can prepare you for an enemy who can kill you by breathing hard, and who you cannot hurt at all.

  • No, Superman could vaporise Batman by glaring at him angrily, nice effort though.

one skepticism i have, is superman could defeat grundy or a tiger, no questions asked. Could batman beat doomsday? How about zod? Or Braniac, bizarro, parasite, the only superman villian batman could defeat is metallo, and that's just because metallo's main attack is kryptonite, which won't do anything to batman. Now, lets go down the list of batman villians, shall we? Joker- Really? a clown with a gun? Scarecrow- superman isn't afraid of a guy with some poisonous gas Penguin- an old british tycoon with a gun in his umbrella... i'm not sure superman's sense of morality would even allow him to fight this guy Killer Croc- he's a guy with a crocodile's body. I think Superman can handle a crocodile Two Face- A deranged guy who's missing half of his skin, and decides who lives and dies with a coin flip- another plain human, except unlike the penguin, this guy's got two guns, bitch! (Arkham City) Catwoman- two things- 1) is it legal for batman to beat her up? 2) I don't think superman would even waste his time with this fight, he would just carry her to the nearest police station. Mr. Freeze- Superman has heat vision, so he would just melt anything freeze tried to, well, freeze The Riddler- I don't think a particularly difficult riddle would stop superman. this guy needs putting down like a sick puppy. The only batman villian that produces a somewhat significant battle with superman is bane, and even still that's assuming his line to titan doesn't get cut off, which superman could do simply by looking at his titan bottles. Sorry batman, I don't care how smart you are, you still couldn't take a good punch from the man of steel.

  •
Joker- Really? a clown with a gun?
A clown with multiple weapons, intelligence on par with Batman, and who takes Batman's main trump cards - fear and planning - completely out of the picture.

  • Multiple Times, The Joker Has Tricked Superman into doing some pretty stupid things.(Injustice) Superman IS afraid of fear gas, that's the point of it.(Injustice) Penguin is a master of organized crime, and superman ain't no detective, making it impossible for him to prove penguins guilt Killer Croc: anyone can beat him Two-Face: despite having strict rules, is utterly unpredictable and ruthless. He isn't stupid, and mistakes by his enemies will often end up in innocent deaths Catwoman: I doubt superman would even be able to find her, considering she is a challenge for the Dark Knight, thereby failing Mr. Freeze: has the latest in advanced body armor, and rays that can put things to absolute zero, immobilizing any and all life, even kryptonian life. Not kill, but suspended animation The Riddler: Have you read any of the Riddler's Riddles, have you figured out even a quarter of them? What chance would superman have of solving any of them? Bane: Like almost everyone else, you assume bane is just some really strong guy. He is a tactical genius, and is skilled in martial arts that Superman can't even pronounce. Oh yeah, you forgot: Ra's Al Ghul: Immortal Warlord that leads the league of assassins Deadshot: Never misses Poison Ivy: MIND CONTROL Deathstroke: Extreme assassin Hush:You never know with Hush, do you? The Court of Owls: Talons that can never die I could name dozens more, but here are just a few: Ventriloquist, Black Mask, Catman, Black Spider, Man Bat, Hugo Strange, Owl Man, Promethus, Firefly, Calendar Man, 4 different Clayfaces, Mad Hatter, Harley Quinn, Victor Zsasz, Solomon Grundy, and Proffesor Pyg.

  • Scarecrow created gas that effects Kryptonian's in one of the comics, not sure which one though.
