Finally completed the Mass Effect series

A few months ago i started a thread the same time i started the ME series. Well i just finished mass effect 3 now and it blew my mind into mist. I did play the Extended cut version but i also read up on what it was like before they added the extended cut, i honestly dont get why people whined about it. It was an amazing ending to an amazing trilogy. At first i jokingly shot the ghost catalyst and when it triggered one of the endings i freaked and alt+F4. Then i restarted from the checkpoint and went the Destroy ending. On the topic of whether or not there are going to be any more ME games. I honestly believe it should be a prequel, one following Garrus before he met shephard would be cool. 10 hours on ME1 - soldier (barely did any side missions, only did 2 mako missions) 25 hours on ME2 - soldier (rushed through but honestly this game had the least content) 45 hours on ME3 - sentinel (completed everything) I regret playing soldier, biotics are half the game.
It was an amazing ending to an amazing trilogy.
lolno. Regarding the original ending. 1. This video. 2. Bioware lied to us. They said our past choices would greatly impact the ending to where an 'A B or C' choice simply would not exist. What did we get? An A B or C choice that ended the same regardless of how we played the rest of the series. 3. The relays were all destroyed. Meaning if they just sat there, all life in the galaxy is now stranded where they are. Earth is already ravaged and can barely sustain humanity let alone all those other races, too. So all of civilization died at the end of ME3. 4. If you're actually knowledgeable about the lore of the universe, you would know that it was established in Mass Effect 2 that when a relay is destroyed, it causes an explosion big enough and powerful enough to wipe out everything in an entire solar system. So while #3 is there for those people that don't think about plots much, #4 means that no matter which ending you chose, since galactic civilization camps only in systems with relays that all of civilization was instantly exterminated because of you. Good going, Shepard. 5. Control, Destroy, Synthesize. Why are these good options? In ME 1, Saren chose Synthesis. You told him he was wrong and killed him. In Mass Effect 3, the Illusive Man chose Control. You told him he was wrong and killed him. So why on Earth are either of those things options when you spent ENTIRE GAMES ESTABLISHING THEY WERE NOT VALID OPTIONS? 6. Destroy. Destroy destroys EDI and the Geth as well. Great. 7. The reasoning. The God Child said the reason the Reapers even exist is because organics kept making AI and it kept turning on them. So the Reapers were made to kill organics so they wouldn't make that mistake. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? Yo dawg I heard you didn't want to be killed by machines, so we built machines to kill you every 50,000 years so you wouldn't be killed by machines. No, I am not exaggerating. That is their logic. And it makes absolutely zero sense. 8. Destroy AND the reasoning. So the God child says that machines will always rebel against their creators and it will always result in the destruction of all organic life. He says it happened in every single cycle which is why the Reapers are needed. Um... I don't know about you, but I spent an entire game bringing the Geth and Quarians together. As I spoke to God Child, their species were working together to rebuild the Quarian homeworld. They were ACTIVELY PROVING THAT THE GODCHILD WAS COMPLETELY WRONG. The Geth were absolute proof that the Reapers were not needed, and that the God Child was wrong. And what do we do? We just accept it because we have no dialogue options. The logic makes no sense. 9. Joker. In the original ending, why is Joker flying away? Why did he just leave? Joker would never abandon Shepard or the Squad. OR the entire fleet. Just to save himself. That's ridiculous. 10. Why is the ship being torn apart as he flees? The waves don't harm ships. According to God Child, they should have no effect on such things. So why is there an epic chase scene with the ship about to be destroyed? If he was running away for EDI that's one thing, but he wasn't. The ship itself was being torn apart. Another plot hole. 11. Why, over the radio when you wake up in the Citadel, do they keep saying nobody made it to the Citadel? You clearly made it to the Citadel. Not only that, but ANDERSON clearly made it to the Citadel. 12. Anderson keeps saying he came out in a different area in the Citadel than you. There's only one path to that control room, so how would he have come from a different area? In addition to that, Shepard clearly got there first and passed out. Since there's only one path, how did Anderson NOT see Shepard? Ridiculous. 13. Dialogue. We are given no options to question the God Child's dialogue. We have to accept everything we're spoon fed, regardless of it making zero sense. I don't know about you, but MY Shepard would never have just accepted those options that THE LEADER OF THE ENEMY TRYING TO DESTROY THE GALAXY gave you. 14. The God Child even existing. What a cop out. They spent the entire series telling us that each Reaper was a sentient individual. Now, in the last 10 minutes after being told this for 99 hours and 50 minutes, they suddenly claim the reapers were being controlled by an AI the entire time? They did that because they couldn't get a better ending to it, and it's ridiculous. They completely contradicted games worth of lore for it. 15. Artistic Integrity. Yeah -blam!- you too, Casey Hudson. There you go. 15 easy reasons why the ending to Mass Effect 3 was objective bad. The fact that it was a horrible ending is not an opinion. It is a fact. You can find the ending entertaining. You can find it funny or pretty to see all the colors. But it's bad regardless. Like Naruto.

    • Me3 was meh and hope they fix it when they come out with a new one which they all but confirmed if not confirmed at Pax Australia that is if they haven't cancelled since then. I think they should give race freedom in the new one so I can be a Quarian my favorite race

The way I see it, ME3 accomplished little more than being a mediocre third person shooter. ME2's plot may not have been very good, but it at least made up for it in other areas: - Just as many, if not more dialogue options than the first game, most of which usually don't lead to the same line, which some in ME1 did. - While streamlined, still interesting exploration to do since there's multiple varied hub worlds and loads of N7 missions hidden throughout the galaxy, some of which are even connected. Side quests that have variety and sometimes multiple outcomes. - A last mission with mechanics that take into account what you did during the game. - Of course, interesting and varied characters which most of the game is spent on. ME1 meanwhile, actually had the only decent plot in the trilogy, as well as full planetary exploration and similarly varied side missions (though, admittedly, the terrain where these side missions takes place wasn't varied). ME3 had basically none of this (though, in regards to hub worlds, I will credit the Citadel DLC for basically fixing that issue by adding another), on top of having an arguably even worse plot than ME2 and having several character inconsistencies. Then ME3 of course has the horrible journal, complete linearity, the stupid war assets/galactic readiness system, and more.

      • Vanguard is probably the best. I have every achievement in the ME series and I agree. I really don't understand why people did whine about it. The Extended cut made it amazing. And yes they are working on another Mass Effect game.

      • My thing is it was just a bad ending. The game itself was spectacular. I can't believe that the same people who wrote the ending to the Legion storyline wrote the overall ending. It was just horribly disappointing. I had such higher hopes. Oh well.

        • The ending is terrible. You get a choice of "Red, Blue, or Green explosion." ME3's shitty plot holes and Bioware deciding to flat-out change random things about the franchise, could maybe have been forgiven if the ending was badass or amazing. The setup to it was pretty emotional, having you go through and conversing with you remaining and former squad members, the heaven bar talk with Garrus, EDI telling you that you made her feel truly alive, etc. And what do we get? The choice of our favorite color for the biggest cop-out of an ending in video game history. Onto the Leviathan DLC. The Leviathan can influence any Reaper, Organic, and other Synthetic with as little as a few minutes of exposure to the Artifacts. That entire Earth battle, the space battle? Didn't need to happen. Drop a few Artifacts behind Reaper lines and The Leviathan can throw the Reapers into complete chaos. Leviathan can make Destroyer class Reapers suicide (See the ending of the Leviathan DLC), can make the ground forces take each other out. It can make the Brutes and Banshees take out Cannibals, Husks, and Marauders, then each other. Eventually, there would be no more Reaper ground forces left on Earth at all, and barely any Destroyer or Dreadnought class Reapers in the space surrounding Earth. The Crucible would be rendered useless, so then Joker would never have to leave with the crew,? stranding Shepard. The God Child would never get to show his stupid little face, and the Reapers would be gone. Any future threat by him attempting to rebuild a Reaper army would be caught now that the entire galaxy is aware of and accepts the Reapers as actually existing.

        • I agree the ME3 ending was utter trash. Even the extended cut only helped so much to clean the stench. But on the bright side, I love the ME series soo much I am willing to overlook those last 5 minutes and enjoy the rest of the series as a whole. ME2 still my absolute favorite though.

Oh, one thing i did not like. Harbinger played next to no role towards the end of the game. When shephard wakes up in the citadel after being shot up the beam and Anderson wakes him up by saying calling out his name, i thought i heard harbingers voice undertoned andersons voice. So when i saw him i was immediately expecting anderson to be indoctrinated and another battle like saren to happen. Kinda disapointed when it turned out to be TIM and i just chose the renegade option to shoot him

                • You really need to do another playthrough. Now. YOU THINK ME3 WAS A GREAT ENDING TO A GREAT TRILOGY? I DON'T LIKE THAT GAME, AND BIOWARE -blam!-ED UP, AND my caps lock was on oops. Seriously though, the first two deserve the praise of the lord. Butt -blam!- the third one. Small things bugged me. If Legion dies in the second game, he's still replaced by an exact replica of him. Wtf.

                  • I liked most of third game but I have to disagree, the ending was atrocious. Literally no resolution at all and the "A,B,C" ending Bioware specifically said we weren't going to get.

                    • *Waits for Gojira* The main problem wasn't how the game ended. It was the fact that Bioware lied to us. Casey Hudson said that no two players would get the same ending because it factored in player decsions. He also said it wouldn't be like Options A, B, or C.
