After Reach, I'm leaning on no. But how they were applied in Red Dead Redemption (that is applicable, piss off), I would totally go for that mechanic.

Yeah that would be good. I do not see how they can make it a living world or realistic without wildlife.

Also I like the idea sporeboy gives, let's say you are a level 1 hunter with no armor, you find a grizzly bear roaming through an abandoned bandit camp, what would you do? I know, you pull your sniper out, blow his head and get his fur to protect yourself against aliens with plasma guns. Yeah, it does make sense, somehow.. its a videogame.

I think Reach was going to have well-designed flora and fauna, but they ran out of time (RIP Porky). Destiny will probably pick up where Reach failed, space squirrel time!
