Outdated: The Sniper Gun shoots too far: A Thread on Destiny Sandbox Balance
Disclaimer: This thread is a year old and is wildly out of date. I have left it as is to represent my thoughts at that point of time, but compared to what we know now a lot of them are VERY VERY silly.
____________________________________________________
"Is it me or does the sniper gun just have way too much range? Just because its accurate doesn't mean it needs to shoot far. I mean Tiger Woods is accurate, but he doesn't pull up from half court and score a grand slam now does he?" --Anonymous User (Deleted), June 7th, 2008.
He's right you know. The Sniper Gun does in fact shoot too far, and while this might not have been a problem in Halo, it most certainly will be a problem in Destiny if steps aren't taken to prevent the Sniper Rifle and other longer ranged weapons from completely dominating the sandbox. I encourage the reader to join me on an speculative journey as we embark to figure out exactly how Destiny's sandbox might work compared to Halo.
Click to continue reading to the second post.

Edit: If you don't read the entire thread and instead skip to posting a silly response, I reserve the right to laugh at you.
• I see your point, but I think this would only be an issue if the PVP takes place in the 'sandbox environments' and not in specific, appropriately sized stages. Personally, I sank a lot of time into Red Dead Redemption free roam multiplayer, and I was mostly fighting people barely within draw distance. The snipers had no bullet drop and were as pin-point accurate as your connection would allow, which is funny for a game taking place in the early 1900's. I loved it, but for a game like Destiny, that kind of weapon dominance would kill the experience. Maybe the accuracy will fall off at extreme ranges. Maybe the damage will, instead. I believe PVP will take place in "arenas" built from locations in the game world or on unique maps, and that sniper distance won't be any more of a problem than it was in Halo.
