Regarding the 'Cat-Ear' contreversy.
I made the poll so I could actually see what the community thinks of the issue. Previous polls regarding this subject were rigged to favour one side.
As for the controversy, I highly doubt that there will be a wide and open selection of cat ear apparel available in Destiny. It is after all, a sci fi shooter, so of course most clothing and armour will be more worn, realistic and metallic in tone and style.
However, Bungie has shown that they are not afraid of putting out of place equipment or easter eggs in their games. For example, the monkey person in ODST, and the katana, haybusa armour and comedic grunt in Halo 3.
Considering this, and the fact that an actual Cat person (tigerman) almost made it into the game, it is not implausible to think that cat ears could be placed in game as a type of Easter egg or a piece of rare equipment.
Personally, I do not mind whether they are in Destiny, but I want to hear your thoughts.

Add a cat race and make their helmets "cat-eared" shaped. Oh and they must have tails too. Space Mi'qote anyone? :D All of this before anything else is updated in-game.

I don't give a damn about any ears they want to put in the game, as long as it's put into the game after the following: 1. Raid bugs fixed 2. Underperforming weapons buffed 3. Errors resulting in kick to orbit or disconnects lowered

I don't see why anyone would want cat ears in Destiny... I'll still vote no because I don't want to see someone in awesome futuristic armor with cat ears ruining the whole look.

If it were merely optional, what difference does it make? Some may want them, some may not. Personally speaking, I wouldn't use them, but I certainly wouldn't want to take the option away from anyone else and spoil their enjoyment of the game. It's reductive.

I don't care if cat ears are in the game, I'm just not gonna have em. Plus it doesn't really matter if you see someone with cat ears because you won't even know they have them! Almost everyone wears a helmet when on earth, and when they're anywhere else they have to or they'll die. Plus the OP is right, bungie does have an open mind.
