I can't decide whether the addition of the Firefight Trophy as an avatar has damaged or preserved my prestige on the forums. On one hand, this has been my avatar for over two years and became a fundamental, unique element of my identity on the forums, and so being able to use it again would maintain that. On the other hand, the restoration of the avatars to use allowed users to select any of the variations all willy nilly, without earning them, as was the custom on Bungie.old. At times I question if games like this or this carried as much consequence as they did before.
I sympathize with winners of the All Stars competition during Halo: Reach, when players went through considerable effort to win an exclusive addition to their profile. Their recognition was short lived, as the nameplate became available to all some months down the road. It begs the question: Why did I bother?.
I suppose what's done is done, but what do you think?

Well EVERYONE from B.old knows who you are cause of that avatar and that batshit record you hold. Who cares about the new fags?
-
I agree with you, Bungie should respect the special badges of members that have done outstanding things in the community, otherwise, what's the point of doing a bigger effort if everyone else will get the same thing with time?
-
I like to think that you earned it on the old website and it will always be there as an accomplishment.

I am one of the aforementioned All Star Champions. You know what week I won it? Week 20. ;_;
-
It's basically the same thing they did with Recon armor. "Oh you spent a lot of time earning this" "Doesn't matter were just gonna hand it out eventually anyway"
-
Stop reminding me of your accomplishments! I ACHIEVE NOTHING IN LIFE .____.

My opinion? If you care about a rank in an internet forum, you failed really hard
