I would really enjoy this. Lets say we lose, the hive (or any other faction really. I'd expect the fallen to break through) get a foothold and slowly start taking over the city. Players would be grouping together to go and oust them from the city, just like the actual military. They regroup then go back and counter attack. It would really help the immersion, which bungie has stated is one of their main goals. I like it, I want it. Only thing that needs to be sorted out is the possibility, however small, that not enough players respond in time and lets say they win and take over the city. Bungie has said that public events are not mandatory, but if people take advantage of that and not enough people show up to defend the city, the enemy take a portion of it. In order to persuade the ones who don't like public events (but are capable of joining. Those with crap Internet, I understand), ALL players would lose the benefits from that portion of the city, including any favorite shops or quest continuations. Let me know what you think guys. Mostly about the losing benefits of that part of the city.

  • That'd be cool... Although it seems bungie are thinking along the lines of last city blah blah traveler protects us... However In the event of the city being overrun it'd be cool if the traveler vaporised all personal within the city players would need to respawn (there's your punishment) the traveler then collapses the city, moving the city to mars/Saturn/wherever, this creates an endless loop of moving the city, so you don't need to reset the world... Although I see this scenario not being part of the end product of destiny, but they have a 10 year plan so who knows.

  • I want this very much, but it seems unlikely that the city can fall. What then, Bungie go's "oh well" and pulls the plug? I wonder if there can be other consequences though.

  • However unlikely, if the enemy takes over ALL the city, there should be an emergency recall of all players currently not in the city. If no one protects the city and the enemy takes over the tower. Then the server resets. Now this is probably the harshest thing, but a full occupation should take about a month. If players neglect it that long, they kinda deserve to be reset. This is what's going on in my head. For each day/week, the events would happen if players do not respond to the event. Day one - enemy establishes foothold in city. Emergency broadcast level one sent out to players on earth to defend city. Week one - enemy occupies one fifth of the city. Week two - enemy gains another fifth. Week three - enemy gains another fifth. Emergency broadcast level two sent out. Demands recall of all players on earth, Luna, Venus, and mars. Week four. Enemy gains control of all the lower city. Tower the only remaining territory. Week five - enemy begins assault on tower. Emergency broadcast level three sent out. Demanding return of ALL players, regardless of level or location. If enemy is not expelled out of tower within 24 hours, they gain control and humanity is either destroyed or enslaved (depends on faction and their goals) server resets. Players will lose all progress. For those players who successfully oust the enemy, they receive a medal or commendation (depends on what system destiny has for things such as that) a choice of loot, and money. Players who did not participate are not penalized unless they received an emergency broadcast. The punishment is having to sit through a five minute cutscene of the mayor (or whoever the guy in the gameplay trailer was) scolding them for lack of action next time they visit the tower. No major punishment, but something for them to think about.

  • Of corse, an invasion would probably occur later on, after a year or so.

  • I really hope bungie reads this. I want this so much... Ideas for this are swirling in my head. I can practically see the mission playing out in my mind. Objectives, such as destroying a fallen landing pad, reactivating defense turrets, killing the fallen general. So many ways to slow the invasion and eventually stop it. Man... I want it, sooooo much...

  • They pretty much have to, if they want to keep players interested for 10 years. They can't afford to be unoriginal or repetitive.
