Class Balance

I am looking forward to the hunter myself, as I prefer the accurate, large-bore, bolt-action rifles (but loathe the ability to quick-scope) because a well-placed shot feels so much more rewarding. Sadly, people feel snipers are overpowered... So here is how I would balance the classes. Feel free to agree or disagree, but note that I am looking for the best overall balance, because challenge is fun. Hunters: High first shot accuracy; high accuracy knockdown per shot; medium health, armor, magic. Medium ammo count. Scope sway maximum but has ability to steady with held breath. Titans: Lowest overall accuracy; low accuracy knockdown to enable sustained accurate automatic fire; high health and armor; lowest magic. Highest ammo count. High melee damage for great CQC. Scope sway medium, no ability to steady. Warlock: medium accuracy; medium accuracy knockdown per shot; lowest health and armor; bitchin' magical ability. Lowest ammo count. Scope sway at a maximum. All classes: Somehow manage to remove quick-scoping with snipers. Require more skill to use, such as BF3. Really, it should make sense that high caliber rounds should do high damage. But we clearly don't put a big .50 in the hands of every soldier for a purpose... What do you think? I'm also feeling like the traits can change based on race.

  • Amusingly enough I'm writing a thread on Sniper Rifle Balance myself at the moment. You should read it when I finish and let me know what you think. In the game in my mind, the biggest defining factor that a class posesses is not stats or traits, but class abillities (which function roughly like Armor Abillities). Warlocks get more magical abillities like Fireballs, Hunters get abillities like Cloaking or reusable traps, and Titans get things like Overshields or thruster packs. Class Abillities are the biggest and simplest way to differentiate gameplay between the classes, traits add unneccessary complexity, and the four statistics we've seen (Shields, Agility, Energy, and Discipline) aren't enough to make a lasting impact between classes. As for Race Traits, there won't be any, they've confirmed that so far.
