Best guess?
One got reported enough and the other has not (yet) been reported sufficiently.
It's not like the old days where the moderators decided which topic lived or died. We now let the members decide (with their ability to mute/hide/report) what topics are worthy of getting a ban (and the resulting removal of the post/topic).
If you are concerned about "inconsistency", it's not inconsistency of moderation, it is inconsistency of the members.

I just can't see why members would let one idiotic racial thread stay while another about blacks goes instantly. I guess if you say anything bad about any other race besides whites, its considered racist.
-
Did you report either/both threads? Or did you expect/want someone else to take care of it for you?
-
If I report it will you finish the job?

Edited by Recon Number 54: 5/20/2013 7:28:54 PMIf enough members report it to put it into my work queue, I certainly will act on the reports. But with the new site, we are no longer the "play nice police" or the "arbiters of appropriate posting". Everyone on the site is. I act when the people speak. It's now a democratic process. If members aren't reporting, they are essentially saying "I am okay with this". Who am I to tell others what they are willing or unwilling to tolerate?

So do all threads have the same report number needed to get it removed? Like does 20 reports get a thread noticed to the mods?

I've not been told what the threshold is. I am however under the impression that the more times someone reports things and their reports result in discipline, those members may be more "trusted" or valued and their reports may carry more weight. But that is something that I am just guessing at. The flipside would be that if a member shit-reports and their reports don't end up with a banned user, their reports are considered "less valuable" and carry less weight. Either way, if you see something that triggers your "awww HELL no!" response? Hide/mute/report with an appropriate reason (other than "meh" which does not hit our queue).

My new B.net meta-game: trying to predict what threads the hivemind will hide via reports, so I can report them too and acquire more trust rating! (not really)
