How is this a path to a police state?
Get a grip guys, New York was just like this on 9/11 to.
If it starts happening everywhere around the country then yeah start worrying, but for right now its for the safety of law enforcement/military personnel and civilians. Not to mention it will make finding explosives (Which they have found another one today) and obviously traps this SOB.

It is like 9/11. It isn't some cop killer, the guy is a terrorist, and no one knows what he has planned. The terrorists won when Bush passed the PATRIOT act. When we gave up our freedoms, when we [i]allowed our representatives to pass a bill that traded our freedom for security[/i], on that day they won. Here you are seeing a city scared of an individual, doing their best to stay out of the police's way in finding the asshat.

It's only been a few hours, and it's reasonable to think there could be more explosives throughout the whole city since they are known to have made more (they were throwing them out of the back of the car during the police chase). Marshal law hasn't been declared and the police aren't randomly entering homes or searching people, it's just a temporary lockdown for people's safety.

Their may still be unexploded ordinance in the city, they have already found and defused another one today.
