Shot a .40 caliber pistol!!!

So I went shooting down in So Cal this weekend. Last time I shot a gun was in 2008 a revolver .38 special. Felt good mayne. This here is a Glock .40 cal. Pretty decent kick. I faired pretty well at my traget. Got a red dot hit. Sadly (cool though) my GirlFriend first time shooting, she got 3 red dot hits while all her shots landed in the target circles. Lucky her :D She was a better shot than me. Here is a picture of the beauty. Glock :D Has anyone been shooting in last month or so? Share your experiences!!

    • I own and shoot a .45.. Now that bad boy has power! I found out I'm more accurate the quicker I shoot it.. Which is really.. REALLY weird!

    • Haven't been shooting in months. It's just a pain in the ass when you live in Sydney and the closest range that is good is over an hour away.

    • I'm really partial to the .40 Glocks myself. I have a full size (Model 22) and a sub-compact (Model 27). For me they were the "sweet spot" between a 9mm and the .45ACP. As to women shooting better? Get used to it. I think that it is due to a combination of factors, but I suspect that a major one is that they have no need at all to feel masculine while shooting, and so, are able to better focus on following instruction and controlling their aim. Many men I see on the ranger are more concerned with either rapid fire and/or making loud noises, and others? Are just self-impressed with "look at how big a gun I am shooting and how well I handle the recoil". Women aren't really interested in that, and so, they probably put more thought and effort into simply hitting the target.

      • Never fired a .40 Glock. I like the .357 revolver the most. It's got just the right amount of power, IMO. The bigger guns are fun and all (i learned on a .44 magnum) but the .357 feels right to me. The biggest non-revolver handgun i've fired was a 9mm. It was a nice gun and all, but i don't know how it compares to a .40. I'll have to get my dad to bring out his .45 next time we go shooting.

Try a Desert Eagle sometimes, it's a lot of fun. If we are only talking pistols I have a Glock 17, 1911, .357 revolver and the Desert Eagle. I love the Glock, it just won't stop, I trust it with my life. The 1911 is fun just because it's all steel and has a different feel to it. The revolver I got only because I want to own a little of everything, .357 had a lot less kick than I thought it would. The Desert Eagle is just a beast! It has a lot of kick but is really controllable, it is gas operated with a rotating bolt and weights 4.5 pounds which really helps control recoil. I was just able to buy 180 rounds of 5.56, a box of .45 and 9mm at Cabela's. (I went to different registers to beat the 3 boxes a day rule) I haven't been to the range in almost two months, when I get home it's party time! If you would like to learn to shoot competitively try joining the GSSF, it's a lot of fun and you can even win prizes including a Glock of your choice. They make amateur competition shooting easy and fun. You also get a nice discount on a new Glock after one year.

      • I go shooting as much as I can ammo permitting. I was actually at a function yesterday where I rocked with a Glock 19 and an SG553. Both turned out to be meh. Welcome to the fold OP. Be careful though, it's a very expensive addiction. The day after I bought my Nugget I was already considering my next purchase.
