Which do you like better and why?

Invasion. I had been wanting a Spartan vs Elite game type since Halo 2.
-
I never played Dominion.

Edited by ToastyWaffles: 4/16/2013 2:22:55 PMThe only thing I didn't like about Invasion is that maps had to be built around the gametype. Boneyard and Spire just didn't work well for any other gametypes except Invasion. If they could find a way around this issue, create more objective types, and then implement the "X to spawn [vehicle]" mechanic from Dominion, then the gametype would be perfect.

This was a pretty tough call for me, but in the end I went with Invasion. Invasion has a more objective-y feel which I approve. However, I absolutely love the idea of fortifying and holding positions by building turret and getting weapon drops. That was really cool and is still one of my favorite game modes.

Invasion was just more fun to play. Dominion is just........ well............... awful.
-
I like Invasion better because: a.) It's a multiple objective gametype b.) There are Elites c.) Dominion is crap
-
Invasion, because it was a lot more fun to play IMO. Also you couldn't just sit in a base you have fortified and wait until the next power-weapon or vehicle spawned, whereas in Invasion you had to go out of your way to try and hold a hill.
-
Personally I think Invasion is much better, though I haven't played with people who are of the same skill level as me in a while, so it hasn't been exactly fun recently.

Edited by TheBiggerBang97: 4/13/2013 8:00:03 PMFor some reason, I started thinking about how awesome a game type that combined these would be. The longer that the defenders held off the attackers, the more they could fortify their positions, while the attackers progressively got better and better vehicle and weapon drops... For the record, I voted Invasion.

I like both but Invasion wins. It actually adds to the canon in a sense. Something that 343 was trying to do with Halo 4. Whether they succeeded or not is up for debate. There are some good stuff in Dominion that can be added to Invasion. The way you capture bases in Dominion can replace Territories. Hack the control point, hold the base for 15-20 seconds and you complete that tier. Extraction in a sense can be the equivalent to blowing up a wall but that's off topic. I like the AI guns. They aren't completely OP and annoying like depicted in a Halo 3 ViDoc about the planning of High Ground. Ordinance Drops and Invasion I feel are the perfect mix. It makes more sense in a game focused with MP focused on Canon. Maybe even Supply Crates(ODST Style of course). Honestly if they can hire me to just plan this out, or even you Goat, I don't care if it would only be a minimal wage job(I'm a high school student so I can make do with that) I'll take the job immediately. I have ideas that can make Invasion replace Spartan Ops. Mix in PvP size to around BF along with Map size. Throw in AI support units from Battlefront. Maybe have this? Add in amazing forge support. BOOM! Yes, it will be different but will stay away from the core experience.

Invasion was innovative and new, Dominion is a copy of every domination game type from every game ever.
-
Edited by MrR46: 4/14/2013 12:38:05 AMInvasion was a much better concept. Dominion is just territories with a twist. That said invasion was awful in matchmaking. Starting with autos blew, loadouts blew, and the two main maps blew. I did play some really fun custom invasion games on forged maps with DMR starts though.
-
The only downside to Dominion is the fact that it becomes a cluster-blam!- of power weapon hoarding, unless, that floats your boat... Invasion had many balancing issues pertaining the Spartans Vs Elites, and Invasion Slayer is still a 50/50 in my mind. Plus, the maps for Invasion Slayer were terrible, and having only two maps for regular Invasion was a letdown. I feel like I want to give it to Invasion, but Invasion has many more drawbacks that come to mind compared to Dominion. This is actually a much harder choice for me then it should be considering these are the only two gametypes that kept me interested in these two games. If Invasion had better support from Bungie, it would be a no-brainer, but as is, I can't say that either one is more enjoyable IMO.

Dominion is OK... but your HUD gets cluttered up WAY too fast. They really needed to simplify the UI for a gametype like that. Invasion was just another thing 343i trampled all over. Just like Firefight and Campaign Scoring and taking your customized armor through EVERY gametype... 343i just tossed all those really great ideas out the window for their half-baked Spartan-Ops game mode. Pretty sad.

Invasion trumps Dominion. The concept and possibilities of Invasion are just so much better than Domination/Territories game. Invasion had the potential to be the best gametype were it not for the lack of game options such as unique species traits, still a good gametype but lack of options hurt it. Doesn't seem like 343 put a lot of thought in Dominion really.
-
Invasion is so much better than Dominati- "Dominion". I love how 343 couldn't even come up with a name that didn't sound exactly like the rip-off.
-
hehehe now I'm going to make a machinima featuring Prometheans... an up close look too!!!
-
Invasion, because that doesn't have bases that can give everyone on your/your enemy's team rockets every 45 seconds. I also like the progressive element and the varying objectives. Though, some of the Elite spawns were terribad and there was nothing you could do if the Spartans took your Banshee. Dominion is my favorite gametype in H4, though, but Rockets and Incineration Cannons need to be removed from that playlist. There is literally no way to counter them except to run in and die enough times for them to run out of ammo and hope the resupply doesn't gives them more.
-
They were both pretty terrible.

Edited by ZealotSG: 4/13/2013 10:02:01 PMInvasion. Imagine if this was MP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfjQAFfBgE8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MQQQ8myNSw The Mammoth makes a great boarding platform.
-
Why not both? :(
-
I really liked how Invasion could fit into the lore of UNSC Vs Covenant and the gameplay was fun because not everyone had a power weapon all the time. Dominion is fun, though, because you can actually regain lost points. If you're defending in Invasion, you can't regain what you lost.
-
Invasion. I like it better when there is an attacker and a defender, not 3 open points and you have to fight with the other team over them. Also in invasion every did not constantly have a pw.
-
Invasion was awesome. While Dominion is kind of fun, everyone has a power weapon at all times.
-
Invasion, without a doubt. Nothing wrong with Dominion, but Invasion was better.
-
Invasion. While Dominion is ok, its just a rip off of Domination. Just look at the names for -blam!-s sake. Invasion was so much fun, it was as canon as War Games.
