Rated T?

The previous "Character Development" told us that this game is "Anticipated To Be Mature". I do remember not too long ago there were discussions on what rating exactly It should be. Some people thought It need to be M, some said T was Fine, and others were Indifferent. Then Bungie tells us they aren't shooting for the rating, but only trying to bring the best they can to us. Honestly, I think T would be a suitable rating. Now hear me out, before you start judging me. I have a valid reason. There are some of us here that actually need a T rating to play. Most of you might think "This will just allow more little brats an opportunity to ruin my gaming experience". I think this Is 100% true. Still, there are kids like me. Well, 17 year old's like me. I'm not one of those people that wish to ruin a good day of gaming for you. I actually am enjoying every little tid-bit about this game and can't wait to play this with some of you! Still, I have strict parents. I'm a 17 year old kid still under his parents supervision that Is not allowed M rated games. I'm sure there are others just like me everywhere. There's really nothing we can do about this, until we are older. Maybe I'm just complaining? I should just get over it. Still, I know there are kids like me that would love to play this game, but are not able to because of tiny little letter. Sorry If I annoyed you. I know ultimately that ESRB has the final say, and no matter what you or I say about It, we can't change a thing. Though I thought this was a valuable opinion to share. There are some of us that would love to share this amazing experience with all of you, but will not be able to If this gets a Mature rating. What do you think?

  • This is the 1st time I ever heard a parent being strict about stuff like this. Unlike other parents who let 6 year old's play 'M' rated games. Hope the best for you & good luck.

  • I think the only possible problem with the rating system is if a company makes a very M rated story and tries to dumb it down to get a T rating and a wider audience. I have no problem with a T rating, and if I remember correctly, the only thing that earned an M for Halo was the dismemberment of the Flood. I think Destiny will end up having an M because of the Hive (which seem very flood-esque), but a T, or even an E rating is fine with me, as long as Bungie is able to craft a compelling story in it. There aren't many T rated games, though, mostly games with a lot of swearing in song lyrics. Chances are, Destiny will be M. M rated games tend to sell better and appeal more to the major gaming audience (particularly the one catered to by Activision).

  • I really don't care. All I care is that Bungie create the game they want to give us, and rating be an after thought. I don't want a rating to put limits on what they do or do not want to put in the game.

    • Well, I feel as with anything, the company has to be free to target a specific audience. If they feel they want to make a more dark, serious game - then that's what it should be. They shouldn't childproof it. The best example of a company doing this is with the Chronicals of Narnia. The book, had people dying, it had blood and fighting. The movie? They made it a PG movie instead of showing what the book did (not going to get into how I hate that it's okay in books and not in movies), you get the people in big battles never actually shown getting hit. No death. No dying. No blood. Horrible action. Cuts in the middle of everything. It was awful. I don't want that for destiny.

      • You realize that M rated games are "17+" so even at your own age you have full right to getting the game without their permission. On the other hand, although it may not apply to everyone, Call of Duty is proof enough that most parents don't care about the rating of the game.

        • At least your parents have standards which is good. Ghost of Dawn has a point though. M games are 17+ so legally, you could get the game.

        • Look on the bright side,if it's an "M" rated game then you won't have to wait that long to play it because by the time it comes out you'll probably be 18 yrs old legally an adult so you'll be able to play it without seeking permission :-)

            • I believe their contract says they have to target a 'T' rating. If they don't hit that target I don't know if they will have to make the appropriate changes or if will go through as 'M'.

They Said in the GDC Destiny will be an M game. Re watch the GDC < besides we had nothing of the sort of games consoles of today ect My parents never got for me personally instead it was for the whole family nor did i expect one when i was growing up. I did not get my first video game console (N-64)til i was in my early twenty's due to surviving out in IRL. Some parents do not care thus set an 8 year old in front of a game that is M. As it babysits them. The people they interact with well that is why its not such a good idea as curseing trolling and language from older players, Thank your parents later, Some do not like hearing kids but i am ok with it if they are mature some even earn that privalige showing they are responsable.. Halo 3 just had too many kiddies good thing Reach let me edit most of them out.-Commander

              • You'll probably be 18 by the time this come out and if your parents have a problem with a legal adult buying video games then I'm sorry for you.

              • To me, it would depend on the tone of the characters and overall vibe of the world. MOST of Bungie's titles have been geared towards a higher brow, more adult gamer. However, I wouldn't be SHOCKED as much as maybe a little bummed if it round up being anything other than rated M.

              • It really depends on the experience that the developer wants to convey. For straight shooter action, it can often be possible to sneak by the ESRB with a T rating. Introduce gore, and then it usually ends up M. Certain games would be unimaginable with T ratings, such as Far Cry 3. Too much would need to have been omitted for it to have a T rating and the experience would just not be the same. My parents didn't really care about the ESRB rating when I was younger. Guess I was fortunate.

                • If Bungie wanted to reach a wider audience, then yes. T would be a better rating. However, Bungie also wants to make a certain experience and who knows what kinds of material they will have in the game to create that. As I see it, the only real thing that would make the game M rated is the amount of blood sprayed when an enemy/person gets shot. Bungie has never really been excessive with the gore or has included that bad of language in their games,
