The races are cool, but there NEEDS to be more than three. Lets put it this way: 3 classes/races = 9 possible combinations of class-race. Meh. 3 classes and 5 races = 15 combos. See where this is going? Or if they do have more classes, lets say two more as well, that's 25 possible combinations.
My point to all this is to say that I don't want 1 in 9 people to be exactly like me. If this is a shared world shooter (mmo) there needs to be more uniqueness than 9 choices for everyone.

So true, so Bungie is saying we only found 2 other races that were fit to be our friends. Wow do we suck as a species, or is all the other races pricks?

The darkness killed them all. And one of those races we created(the Exo) and the Awoken are human looking so they are alright.

If you have ever taken a class in computer science and or game development you would understand that this idea is horrible. All great games have three things in common-Flow, Simplicity, and Story- Each Halo game had those components as did Call of Duty as did the Battlefields as did Kingdom Heart as did WOW as did Rift. The now 15 classes that are playable in WOW have been added slowly over the course of 12+ year. There will be uniqueness from a character creation and customization point of view. Anymore than 3 classes and 3 races would be overwhelming and destroy simplicity. This is about humanity...not Tiger man. The two other races are humanoid and either are full of Traveler magic or electronics.

Firstly, I am a computer science major, and I do understand the implications of this idea from that perspective. Secondly, there is no reason why more races, an aesthetic choice, could not be added on and explained in a 'mythic sci-fi' universe (on par with the explanation for the current non human races). There are pretty loose boundaries at this point on the story they want to tell, and it wouldn't 'destroy' the simplicity. Did it ruin skyrim when you could play as a cat or a lizard (from an aesthetic standpoint)? The story may focus on humanity in general, but that's not to say it's the only focus. Look at the star wars universe, there are a TON of races that are pretty much human with very slight differences. Assuming that the Awoken were mutated by the traveler, it's not too far off to say that humans could develop slight mutations in other ways as well. As for classes, that would be a bit more difficult to add more from a balance standpoint, but I would expect them to add sub-classes (specializations) to each class that builds on what each one can already do with unique abilities. If each class can split at least two ways it makes the game a lot more interesting than if there were three rock/paper/scissor base classes. TL;DR: Just read the whole post and stop being condescending to other people on the forum.

I'm sure there will be plenty of ways to make your character feel unique beyond basic class and race choice >_> Besides, from what we've seen (which may not be conclusive), we can't even tlll what race a person is while they have their armor on so...

Too true. But if they do stick with the intial 3 races, they will no doubt be making the customisation of them very in depth. Im hoping for quallity [b]and[/b] quantity cus im greedies lol!

I think it's pretty safe say that Bungie will have more for us. Also, with the story spanning years (in our time) I think we'll see alliances change. Races that will start out as enemies may become allies.

No. The enemies they've revealed so far look far too interesting to leave alive. I've got to kill them all.

For sure, and people will probably care more about the 'real good advice' you're carrying around more that the fact that you're blue. I'm only saying that three races seems a little small and I don't think Bungie spilled ALL the beans on that subject with this one presentation.

But, they said that in each class they worked on the customization so there wouldn't be clipping, plus the 20/40 or 50/50 split in armor to cloth, not to mention color. There will be more to come, that is certain. (80/20)
