So, sometimes I have problems sleeping. My mind gets fixated on a single thing, and it prevents me from being able to think. For example, one time it was about a puzzle (this was years ago, probably the first time it happened). I kept thinking about the puzzle, and my mind was a mess. It was really frustrating.
After I ended up getting a job as a Cashier, the same thing happened. This time I just kept thinking of scanning things, and I could not sleep whatsoever. It also happened last night, but it was about an anime (lol), and for some reason I could not stop thinking about it. I don't even think coherent thoughts, my mind just gets fixated on something and thinks it over and over and I can't sleep at all.
It's not like it happens all the time, but when it does, I can't sleep at all. I tried googling it and I couldn't really find anything (maybe I just didn't search well). Anyone know what it could be?

I don't know any absolutes, but it sounds a little like some form of OCD. -Can you just chill in front of the tv and zone out until you fall asleep? -Are you drinking any caffeine within a couple hours of trying to go to sleep? -Are you on any medication?

I was expecting somebody to just look at the thread title and recommend fapping. I guess I will be that guy. Fap like crazy while watching Frasier on Netflix.

I don't think it's like something you could really diagnose. But I'm sort of the same way. If I'm not pass-out-after-laying-on-bed tired, and I get to thinking while laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I can sometimes keep myself up for over half an hour just because I'm thinking about stuff. Whenever I catch this happening, I just try and empty my mind of complex thought (all thought, really, but y'know it's kinda hard to just not having anything going on up there :P). Try it and see if works for you.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't think it's any kind of disorder. It's a problem a lot of people have. Usually what I do to combat that is to not look at a screen for at least half an hour before I go to bed. If I don't do that, my mind is usually won't stop thinking about what I was just doing. For some reason looking at a screen just makes it really bad. Second, I always take around 5-10 mg of Melatonin every night. I'm serious, that stuff knocks you out. It's a naturally occurring chemical in your brain that makes you sleep, and it's not addictive or dependence-forming. Works like magic.

no idea. I have a hard time sleeping without listening to music, you could try that.
