PVE (Player Versus Enviroment) in Destiny - List Your Ideas Inside

So many people who have played mmo's know that there is usually a hefty amount of PVE in the game. For me it was WoW, and when I used to play back in the day I was big on PVE. Nothing was more exilirating than going through boss fights having to perform certain tasks and every member being required to be aware, on their toes, know the boss fight, as well as be well equipped and a good player. So where my thought is going with this is would anyone like/enjoy a raid/dungeon system in Destiny? Granted if this would be in Id have a very tough time deciding to either PVP or do some raid-esque PVE. Espeially if theres endgame stuff similar to WoW. TL;DR would you like some raid-esque PVE in Destiny? As well as what are you hopes and aspirations for PVE material within Destiny? • well we know that the game does feature raids of some kind, and we know it has (in at least some modes) squads of up to six players. so I think people expecting huge raids with dozens of players are going to be disappointed.

  • Raid groups would be nice although through experience... I cant say I'd ever want to return to unorganized groups of more than 25 players. I'd more so love solo or smaller 6 man groups seeing as how gathering an amount of people that size would be much easier to manage and not as stressfull

    • I've played WoW, and other mmo style games and found that they work really well for pc, but it is not something I want for an action fps, despite the ability for groups and mmo style community they'd be able to implement. Personally I hope that this game will not alienate lone wolf style gaming. I love playing with friends and randoms, but far too often do I see the potential for good lone wolf gameplay killed by the overemphasis of the massive mmo groups and raids. My personal vision for a game like this would be having areas like enemy camps and patrols, but make them tough, real tough. Make the fight one that you might not want to engage in, make the player question the choice of mindlessly wiping out a squad of enemies. Perhaps you do team up with a buddy and take out a small camp with ease. Should there even be anything there but scraps? Why would tons of money or awesome weapons be standard issue for our enemies camps? Should killing an enemy camp even be worth the ammunition? I think that a world where charging in and blasting a poultry wave of enemies is, in my mind, not a very compelling world to explore, to fight for and defend, to risk my character's life to save or take back. If charging in and dying has no penalty, then I see no reason not to just bum rush every enemy I see. My accomplishments would be trivial, and so would my experience. I want to be able to play alone, but I also want to be able to benefit from having/making friends in the game. 25 people on xbox live or Psn is a tough crowd to handle, even 10 is tough to speak to when you have a keyboard at your disposal. Point being, 10 and 25 (not to even mention 40) man areas and group quests exclude many players, some people play mmos just for the leveling. I know this. I've done it. But it hurts to be excluded by even the game itself when you don't have the best gear and honed skills. Raids and dungeons can split communities and make playing a chore. I just don't want my experiences limited because I don't feel like taking the time to grind for gear. There's my 2 cents, do with it what you will.

      • what about a stealth mechanic? It would make soloing a good bit easier, and harder at the same time, and give some very interesting group battles goin at the same time. A 6 man ambush on a small battalion of cabal by hiding in trees and tucked behind cave walls and the such, maybe if you can go prone then hunters in over grown areas.

I'm going to stick to a three man firefight team and keep away from big groups. I'm hoping to find a Indiana Jones and a Laura Croft type set of players to go spelunking with into some major firefights and thievery against the Ai. Also I'm doing big bunny hops on the Moon if Bungie keeps the gravity as real as possible on their off world maps.

            • Think outside the box a bit here people. I see a lot of regurgitated MMO systems cropping up. Think of a Dynamic Encounter system that allows the same areas to be reused with new and different effects each time. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Destiny will be about Spontaneous Moment of Awesome that crop up because things will be dynamic. We won't know what's coming at us or what's lying in wait for us within the Fallen Stronghold because each time may very well be different. That, more than anything else mentioned in this thread, will keep me playing Destiny.

                • Instanced missions that scale in number of enemies and difficulty based on the number of players in your party (for small party content). Sometimes the groups I form up of friends who happen to be around may only be 3 or 4 people. It would be awesome to be able to just grab them and go do something challenging for about an hour. Or also have a solo mission that scales in difficulty to account for two people working it over instead of just one.

                • I'm hoping for world events that we could organize for kinda like we had to do with the ARG. Say if we knew of an upcoming event we could organize a large group of willing and able players thru bnet or something. Adding a whole new dimension to console gaming. Another example would be if we maybe captured a base and we had to hold it for a real long time. So long that a new shift of gamers would have to take up the mission to hold it. But it all started because a group of people exploring the planet found it and captured it, not necessarily because it was a mission assigned by the game. Which leads to an idea that we could create missions. Like the base example, if my friends and I came across a fortified Fallen base, and we start trying to take it over, we could activate a beacon that shows up on other gamers' HUDS as an available mission. That sounds a little too crazy tho because think of how many missions would be popping up. So maybe it would only pop up on your HUD if you are a player in the vicinity. And if the mission becomes this huge deal, it could spread to more players.

                  • Technically, wouldn't it be a 30-Man raid? 5 parties of 6, since 6 is the party cap as far as we know.

                    • I think, and hope, that there will be safe areas and not-so-safe areas where you must be on your toes. And out in the open-world wild, there is sure to be all kinds of high level bosses.

                    • i understand this idea that there are alot of solo people out there, but then you will only have those people to play with. If you allow other people to play, you may find more people you want to play with. Also for those of us that wouldnt mind more then 4 people playing at once i think a bigger raid style might be refreshing, so i think a 10-12 person would be fitting.

                        • World Bosses would also be quite fun and they could be good sources of end game loot or cool items. For some reason watching people take world bosses to enemy faction cities on youtube always made me crack up. And those pre-expansion events were always a favorite of mine

                          • I could easily see a 25-man-raid-type game in Destiny. It could be super fun, now that I think about it. Kind of like WoWs "Looking for Instance" feature they have now, you'd have people register as a certain class (DPS, Tank, "Support" (heals), Ranged) and once that all fills you could go into the game. That's the one type of game I would be okay with a lobby for, just to make sure you had all the right classes to go up against the Raid... boss... army... enemy force... thing.

                            • uhm yes, but aparently its a small few of us that want large group raids, not 6 man strike teams.
