Crysis 3 Brute Review. (Console Version)

Full review with pictures and score in the link. Oh Crysis 2, indeed I loved you! Your world was so well created, your story so well paced and executed. Sure your multiplayer was absolute pants, but I was quick to forgive since I had such a great time being absorbed by an abandoned New York… Wait, what is this? Crysis 3?! OHHHH YEAH!!!! Crysis 2 did work very well on the consoles. Its frames were steady; you could easily be absorbed by the atmosphere that it set up to very well. So the new game should work just as well, if not better than the previous game right?... Right? The reason be damned because Crysis 3 on the consoles is A COLOSSAL PIECE OF CRAP! What I am about to let out is going to be filled with rage and anger unlike any I have experienced. THIS is what you get when the game works, but the technical aspects of putting it onto an inferior machine ruins it single handedly! This game is way different on the PC in all of its technical wizardry. Firstly, let’s start of on what the game does right. That is the story; Crysis 3 manages to humanize pure post-human warriors with the thoughts of wanting and not wanting to be more Man than Machine, or more Machine than Man. The character’s go back and forward with this idea as one of them struggles to be human again after his Nano suit was taken from him. You will get the feeling that the Nano Suit was probably not a very good idea after all. After all of the things that have happened to Prophet you will see what I mean. Did I just say Prophet? Wait, what? After what happened in Crysis 2, why are we him again? What happened to Alcatraz? I was struck with this potential massive derp in writing, but thankfully it is explained and makes perfect sense once you hear it as to why you are him. You will also learn what has happened to the original Raptor team in Crysis 1. Crysis 3 is not afraid to dive deep into a characters’ humanity and it pulls its own for its short length. It happens to be the shortest game in the series, even more short than Warhead. However, you are not left feeling unsatisfied by its condensed plot. That was nice huh? Well if you were on the PC it is. The consoles make the game such a chore that you WILL struggle to want to like the game. The entire game is hindered by audio problems with it loosing conversations during cutscenes, delayed portions, and some that just sound too high tech for it to handle so it feels like it will blow your speakers out. Once in the middle of a really emotional moment in the story, I noticed that there was a super long pause with the characters speaking. I remember this happening before at the start, so I put on subtitles to see what was really happening. Sure enough, the conversation was still going on! The SODDING AUDIO just stopped playing! My boiling point was already at its peak, but this just sent it over the top. Who in the world give this game the green light to launch on a system that can barely run it at a playable level?! It is BUUUUULLLLLLLLL SHHHHHIIIIIITTTTTT!!!! This game is for PC only. The beefed up technology for this game simply cannot be translated well to this dying generation of consoles. NYC is now covered in this massive Dome like cover that is built to keep things in and from anything getting in. Even on the consoles Crysis 3 is beautiful, when you stand perfectly still! The draw distance is great and the level of detail is fine enough to make any avid gamer stop and observe. I really want to get this on my PC to see how it really stands out, but you know... *incoming anger* That FRAMERATE!!!! The FPS in this game on consoles is utter garbage, not to mention to field of view makes it worse. The game throws so much stuff in your small window, which you can barely see what the hell is going on, or make out that fuzzy image right in front of you. That right there killed ANY enjoyment that was being built for my playtime. There were too many objects and so many tessellated and untessellated objects that is caused the frames to plunge to the mid-twenties! It already has thirty plus when you stand still or look up at the sky. But once you move or look at objects, it goes down. WAY DOWN! It is brought to light in a driving section where the screen shakes so much and your constant turning makes the fps take a plunge rather than a dip. This game is wayyyy different on the PC just from a glimpse of a HD video. It plays better, the images are stable, you can see, and your field of view can be changed. It seems that all of my problems will be whipped away if I simply go get the PC version. Would you really want to spend another $60 on a game that should have worked the first time? I still like how the cutscenes play out like your field of view is higher. It makes them feel different and more enjoyable to watch. Right off the bat you get your awesome new Bow. It takes zero time to master and makes stalking your prey while cloaked all the more enjoyable. Even switching your arrow tips from standard, to Thermite, Electric, Air Burst Grenades all make you feel near unstoppable. However, on the more easy difficulties it seems like the game will be a total cakewalk. That is what Harder difficulties are for! HELLO GAMESPOT! The environments all feel more open than Crysis 2. Not as big as the first game, but for sure bigger. Your strategy can change up every time that you play through the game; giving you freedom unlike anything before. Multiplayer is certainly better than the second game. It is more balanced and a bit less streamlined like a Call of Duty knockoff that it was. I do not really see it becoming a juggernaut in the gaming world, but it certainly is fun for a nice detraction. That was the only redeeming quality that actually worked as intended for this version of the game. Crysis 3 is covered in technical complications for this generation of consoles. It simply does not work for them! All of the mechanics work as they should, but, there is an abundance of problems that should NEVER be excused since you had so much fun with the PC version. It is like we got two different games and EA had the audacity to ok its release. I am sure that the game is better on the PC, however it is not the case here with Consoles.
