Anyone want to discuss the new game play bits shown in the announcement trailer rather than the whole exclusive content thing? such as seeing the reload mechanic and possibly a dungeon? We also got to hear sound bytes of a gun.
- A strength-weakness system similar to Borderlands' system (i.e. Acid, Shock, Fire, Explosions). Halo games have had a very simple version of this, with plasma weapons effective against shields, and bullet weapons effective against unprotected bodies. I'd really like to see Destiny use this, as it would be fitting considering the variety of enemies we shall face...
Edited by Lincoln Osiris: 2/21/2013 2:33:09 PMI hope Destiny moves away from traditional weaponry. We have enough "play army" games already. (and enough sociopathic teens) Lets have some originality please.

Pew pew pew I'm quite excited, need more!

I know the game is still in development, but the gun fire felt out of place. Know what I mean?

do you have a link of the gameplay that you could link me to

The sniper rifle seems to have a reload animation almost the exact same as Halos. Although, I've never used an actual sniper rifle, so it could be a very common method. But, that leads me along to the fact that the weapons from Halo might very well return in Destiny in various incarnations. If that's the case, I'm looking forward to the Mauler incarnation. I also am /slightly/ dissapointed by the fact we've not seen any vehicle gameplay, as in not even the slightest of a teasing glimpse. I guess it's for the better though. Keeps me salivating with anticipation. The Cabals also have a case of Hulk Syndrom going on. Big bodies, and itty bitty heads. Not sure how I feel about that.

Firstly, if you look at 0:53 in the video, you'll notice that the same warlock switched from holding the pistol to the sniper rifle. Secondly, taking a look at IrishFreak's gif, you'll notice that the characters sidestep quite quickly. Perhaps this is just due to its stage in development, but that would tell me that Halo's slowed side-step lag is gone in Destiny, and that competitive sidestepping will play a major role in Destiny's competitive gameplay.

Love the environments that were showcased.

There were 2 guns that fired.

short, but at least those who doubted Destiny was anything but concept art after last week's press day might shut up.

I am very excited by it. The footage was spectacular and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Very impressed by Sony's conference,Microsoft has a lot to do to equal that. And I think there will be exclusive Xbox content too, they obviously couldn't say that though, perhaps the shot of the Chief statue was a nod to Xbox fans... Y'know, we haven't forgotten your great support over the last decade

I liked the short bit of gun shots, and reload sounds. Real crisp, quality. At par with Halo 4 [Which I do not like, but I'll admit the sounds in that game are fantastic.]

Good to see the BR has made it into Destiny.
