I always hear people trash Anime, as if liking it is inherently wrong. Most of this hate comes from ignorance, as people think it's all "cartoon porn". The other part of it comes from the "extreme" fans, the ones who dress up or act.... odd.
So, what do you think of Anime and the people who watch it?
A month or so ago, I kinda thought people who watched it were odd. Not because of anything stupid, I just didn't think that there would be anything worth watching. Once I started to actually watch it, I was pretty amazed. Things like Clannad, Code Geass, or Cowboy Bebop really shocked me as to how amazing they were.
Really, if you have a negative opinion about anime, you should actually try watching it. And I'm not talking about Dragonball or Naruto, something actually good. If you don't start enjoying it, you should at least understand why people enjoy it.

Honestly, I'm indifferent to it, as far as I'm concerned a cartoon is a cartoon regardless of the country of origin. If I find a show I enjoy, I will watch it, simple as that. I think both the haters and the people who are obsessed with it are ignorant.

Anime is pretty unique, there's an awful lot of shit shows but at the same time there's a hidden gem around every corner; it's somehow both obscure and also insanely popular; and there's more variety then you could every imagine, but also 10+ rehashes of the same old shit every season. And on top of all this, most of the fans are shit and unless you look hard, you'll only hear people talking about entry level shows.

I honestly do think its for creeps who like looking at little girls with huge bewbs. Its morally wrong to be watching the stuff.
-
There's a lot of shit ones, and there's a couple good ones, but in general they are pretty epic one way or another.

I enjoy the artistry behind it as well as the (generally) more mature story telling, the culture, and the way they're composed. However, I feel that they'd be more widespread and respected if they'd abandon the hopelessly stale tropes and cliched methods that modern ones are going with. Excessive fan service, overwhelming moe and dere's, mary sue characters, harem lines, etc. I think it needs a real breath of fresh air, though that's hard in any part of the creative world these days.

Funny part is, I was always the first one to laugh or make jokes about the kids who watched it or read manga. But very recently I was exposed to a few good series, and now I can't get enough of it. Granted they have to peak my interest and be up to quality standards, but I certainly see myself as converted to liking anime.

Edited by DarkSpyda04: 2/16/2013 5:26:42 AMI'll be honest that I trash anime just as much as the next man but it's easy to mock anime. The culture shock requires some getting used to and not many are willing to bother with it for that reason. However I can say it's actually pretty entertaining once you come around. There's a certain charm to it; perhaps because the style differs so much from the usual stuff we watch. As such it adds a bit of flavor into an otherwise bland mixture of entertainment. I still find myself laughing at how an angry housewife is to be feared more than any bad guy of ultimate power. Like a standup comedian they tell it like it is.

Some of it's pretty good, though most of it's trash. Also, there's nothing wrong with cosplaying.

There are really good ones out there but I always find when I am browsing for anime and watching previews they all seem to not even have a story and are based off this horny guy who just wants to do perverted things to a certain girl.. Like if you want to make a Hentai go all out but if you just want to tease people with stupid stuff like that with no story then dont even bother.

Ah I see OP is one of those kinds of people. Though as for your question that really depends on what you mean by that.
