Christopher Dorner - A man of hidden virtue
Has anyone actually read his manifesto? He used to be a cop, and saw severe police brutality, blackmail, and bribery before he decided to quit. He'd been trying to fight intensive corruption in the LAPD for nearly a decade afterwards.. It went as far as him receiving death threats when he tried to rustle up witnesses, and his case being thrown out of court by a corrupt judge when he dismissed said threats. The final option was his last resort.

I don't know where your morals lie OP, but to me, I had sympathy for the fact that he unfairly lost his job in the police force, but every bit of that sympathy was destroyed the second he killed the first innocent person. This was not some anti-heroic act for justice, it was an act of evil.

6 RepliesThe manifesto is a confused mess of a conflicted man. Even assuming every single word of his manifesto is true (which at this time, we have only circumstantial evidence for his accusations), his ultimate action taken almost completely nullifies any point he was trying to make. He attacked officers who weren't involved and killed an officer named in his manifesto's daughter and her fiance. He bemoans the state of bureaucracy and corruption that he claims led to his firing and disgrace, but when given the personal choice to rectify his wrongs in a humane manner, he instead murders innocent civilians and attacks officers because it suits his interest to do so, so that people will mistakenly believe him to be on their side and betray the common good of the people for some personal grandeur. Dorner and his supporters are, ironically, the type of hypocrite he accused people of in his manifesto.

6 RepliesWhile I applaud him for not shooting up a school like most crazy people do, his actions are profoundly inexcusable no matter his intentions. I don't care that he has a bone to pick with LAPD. He killed two unrelated cops, and two civilians.

You know, the best part of this whole thing is that I'm sure they'll make a great movie out of this. Hopefully some big studio picks it up, it'd be a really good movie with the right director.

This whole Dorner thing has turned into a debacle. I'm going to guess that when the house cools down they'll go in and either find a body or not, and if they don't they'll say they will. If they'd do find one then oh well, ggnore. I respect his stand against corruption greatly, and i think that the fact he's started killing people should have been expected after years of being avoided and abused. I don't particularly care that he killed those people, but he should have found a way to be physical but not murderous. I'm just waiting for like the LAPD police chief to be talking on a news network and Dorner calls in and says that they never killed him and that he's coming back. Just so he can play the song above.

As right now, they don't even know if he's in there. I believe everything he said was true - a man of his former integrity wouldn't reduce to this level because of a lie. I don't care how you twist it. He said that this wasn't about ends justifying means. He said that this was about changing the LAPD system. He's not trying to get any sympathy, he's just trying to change the system.

*insert Dark Knight references* But yeah, I read it. The guy clearly snapped, though with legitimate reasons. I hope they re-go through with the investigation and can the woman who kicked that dude (apparently she has a reputation for that kind of thing according to the late Dorner), but I doubt they will.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Killing people made him no better than the officers he sought to bring to life.
