It is idiotic to blame games for violence

How many people play video games and how often do you get mass shootings. There's just no link. Look in the video how the hostess is trying to practically IMPOSE to a psychologist that games are THE ULTIMATE cause for mass violence. Seriously, holy shit. Just because you get some whackos once in a while and they played video games, that doesn't mean THAT made them do it WTF. They should take some Statistics classes.

  • I actually don't like the direction of this, because I love when games are realistic. Like the MW2 scene. Now they just took out the torture scene from Splinter Cell Blacklist, probably because it was gonna be "bad seen". In reality torture happens, shit happens, there are bad people out there. Hiding the truth from games won't stop it.

  • Video games don't create killers. Killers turn to video games because 1) they are usually in the demographic where most people play video games and 2) they are psychologically unstable and are attracted to violence. People that believe that video games cause shootings don't play video games, and should stop making bad things up about them. I like how they made the point of games teaching people to kill innocent people, when the only game I know of that does that is Modern Warfare 2. And I wish that these crazy people would stop making points about how games taught them to shoot guns. Looking down the sights and pulling the trigger is pretty common sense.

  • Just like it's idiotic to blame an inanimate object for the actions of a lunatic.

  • It's idiotic to say it's the ultimate cause of gun massacres, but it's also pretty silly to deny that it has any effect whatsoever on aggression.

    • Most parents will always buy their kids what they want despite the rating. So regulation is off the table because of that. They want to blame video games but all their points are invalid. I play at least 8 hours everyday and I don't want to kill people, but its fun in a game.

    • tl;dr conservatives are trying to shift the discussion away from gun control this was pretty much what Jack Thompson built his career on.

    • Shows these days are far worse than video games because of the psychology behind them. But agreed. Someone has been batshit crazy their whole life if they go on a shooting spree though.

      • The only thing that I could reasonably believe is that desensitization makes one forget just how powerful and painful misuse of certain items are. I don't believe that games create a desire for violence itself.

Well duh, it's obviously the comic books and hippity hop music that are the real culprits here.

      • They say 110% of people in the U.S.A own a gaming system. So it's obvious that it causes violence.

        • First, psychologists can not prove anything is the "ultimate" cause of anything. (that coming from a current psych major) Although I do agree it is pretty ridiculous to blame video games.
