So lets get some opinions on cannabis since there's no poll

Opinion time. As a rather open minded person i hold some points of view that are frowned on. With all of the recent evidence dispelling most of the supposed negative effects of cannabis. such as - It is no longer thought to lower IQ - There was no link to lung cancer after extensive tests - It has never directly killed anyone - It has a 10,000 lethal dosage to active dosage so its near impossible to OD on With all of this what is your stance on the regulation and taxation of cannabis as a recreational substance and if you still hold negative feelings about it what are they? Why do you hold issue with it against this evidence? Maybe you see a different way like decriminalization? Do you view it as a State or Federal issue?

Im a conservative bastard so I'm against it and I always have been. And this Pretty much explains how I feel about it.

      • As long as they have designated areas for smoking pot, so it doesn't affect anyone that doesn't want to inhale it, I don't see a problem with it.

      • I think smoking anything is retarded, and I'd never do it, but I don't see any reason why it's illegal other than corporate interests and misinformation. It's significantly better than cigarettes and alcohol, which are legal and easy to get. Plus, having the government tax the sell of marijuana like they do cigarettes will add some nice government revenue to reduce the deficit a little. Legitimate businesses could sell the drug for less than it's available for now, even after a beefy tax. It doesn't make sense to smoke, but it doesn't make sense for it to be illegal either.

      • It still alters and retards the mind of the user, causing them to function poorly in society, and it makes them irritating as hell, so I oppose it, along with most mind altering drugs

        • Love the stuff, love the availability of it in my country (Netherlands), and I love the stuff. I even did some yesterday night. It's fairly harmless. But just as people view smoking as a bad habit, and the the fact it is addicting, I wouldn't do it too much.

        • Love the stuff. About to light up actually. If you're feeling down, it perks you up, and it's something to do with friends. Like you said, you can't OD, and hasn't directly killed someone (now being under the effects can kill someone, just like alcohol).

            • It's legal where I live in the United States. First place in world to legitimately legalize it (not just decriminalize) in the modern era.

Simply put, it needs to be legalized. I love it but for some people it's not their cup of tea. It will be a long time before it is legalized though unless things start to snowball because of the recent legalization in some states with more on the way.

              • The only bad part is the smell, I've met dozens of working class people who smoke it and aren't drags on society, hell some were part of the military. Honestly the biggest people against it are the cigarette and alcohol companies

              • Don't pretend to be objective about it when you only present one side of the argument. Also, the "statistic" that there has never been a death due to marijuana is misleading. Though it might be virtually impossible to overdose on marijuana, there are quite a few traffic fatalities as a result of marijuana every year.

                  • The simple fact is this: if you willingly believe that all people who smoke weed fit the stoner stereotype- lazy, jobless, leech of society- you're in an uninformed minority. You may think your "smoking is for the weak" "obey the law" comments are admirable, but the only people impressed are those who fit in the same uninformed minority. To everyone else, you look like a brainwashed fool.

                    • My future self told me that ever since he tried marijuana, he has been living in a gutter, sucking dick just to get his next fix. Every time I try to talk to him to find out what happens, he just says that he was given the weed by "that annoying goddamn towel", whatever that means.

                    • It's legal in my state. The only thing now is the stigma attached to it. Should I decide to start using it, it would really hurt my chances for future employment since they're able to hold it against me should they decide to. I'd be at their mercy for something so insignificant. Sure I could be smoking it right now, but it hardly seems worth it still. Which is a shame really, I would like to try it.
