You're right. People say Christians are full of so much hate, but in the bible it says nobody can judge but God himself. So people who do those things, or say things like God hates fags, those are not REAL Christians. My girlfriend is Christian and so is her family, I'm atheist and they love me, and they are some of the nicest people around, because they know they cannot judge, that's God's job. So whenever you see a self proclaimed "Christian" spewing hate, tell them to their face they are not a real Christian and bring up the fact that in the bible itself it says you cannot judge. How can they argue that??

Actually, that is a popular misconception. The Bible says Christians can "judge" (correct) others. However, it requires a few things. It required to be done so lovingly; to help them, not to throw them down. It is required one "had their log removed" that is, to himself be living righteous (by faith). Matthew 7:1-5 "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." Here we see the quote commonly used, but you must use it in context. He clearly says "first take the log out of your own eye" and then help your brother. But it should NEVER be out of anger, or to serve as a stumbling block. It should be to help them and done as gently as possible.

  • Ok so basically try not to be offensive and forceful in your judgement of others.

  • "You can judge people, but as long as you're not a dick about it, it's cool" That's not a great philosophy.

  • If I have a Truth, it would be wrong of me not to share it. If you were walking through the forest one night, and I showed up and handed you a flashlight, would you condemn me?

  • Would I turn you away if you had a flashlight? Of course not. I'm not sure how this pertains to this discussion, though. What truth are you referring to?

  • The Truth of the Gospel. Many see it as judgmental to say "Jesus is the way" but I believe (and the bible states) it would be wrong of me not to share Jesus. You may not believe, and it may lead to you thinking I am an idiot, but I do not care. There have been many Christians who have died for their faith, that they may help one person find their way to Jesus. That is a great example of selflessness. That is how a Christian is supposed to be, not how many Christians are nowadays. The "Modern Christian" is probably the reason so many are apposed and appalled by Christianity. But I assure you, this "Modern Christian" is not what the bible says a Christian is supposed to be. I probably sound divisive, but again, it would be against my conscience to pretend the "Modern Christianity" is how it is supposed to be.

  • agh. Yeah it sounds wrong. I'm not a Christian so I'm not very good at explaining this well.
