They shouldn’t switch games until they fix their magnus opus, which admittedly will never happen. If they leave D2 broken and fragmented then that should be an indicator to those wanting to play marathon; that it’s future probably won’t be much different.

For personal preference, they shouldn't. In business and capitalist terms, it's a no-brainer. One game is ending, another must start. Money needs to continually be made or it all ends. It's no deeper than that.

True, but through better management, the game wouldn’t have had to end so soon. It’s their own fault Destiny is reaching its end. But saying it solves nothing. When a community becomes untrusting it can seriously damage profit.

I mean... Destiny had to end at some point though. This is a story that is 10 years long including D1. D2 alone is halfway through it's 6th year of Live service. All these complaints I feel are mostly due to the fatigue of having something last for so long. It's also a reason so many long-time players complain the game is too easy when honestly if someone was to practice something for 6-10 years and still thinks it's hard there's something wrong with their ability to learn and improve. There's already been quite a bit of filler seasons too. If properly condense, D2 could probably have been wrapped up by now (And it was even supposed to before they split Lightfall and Final Shape). My honest take on it is "It's about time." Let the Destiny group have a break after Final Shape. If there's a Destiny 3, I'd want it to be made with a well-rested team.
