Return Ironbanner: Freelance

Fireteam based matchmaking my a$$. Nearly every time I queue I get a trio or duo in the enemy team which the MM can't deal with, making the whole match unbalanced. Return freelance so people don't have to bother with your broken MM more.

    The bigger the fireteam, the more strict fbmm becomes. 5-6 stacks will almost always face a 5-6 stack, 4 stacks will usually face another 4+ stack but duos/trios are exempt as they are pretty much treated like solo players. Bungie needs to remedy this by forcing duos/trios to also face other duos/trios then solo players will essentially have freelance matchmaking except for situations where 2 solos are needed to fill the the gap in fireteam vs fireteam lobbies. I also think duo queueing should be banned in comp/trials.

    What's funny is freelance was the sweatier mode , and regular was just solos and duos just chilling in Banner

    • I really don't care, banner has been the same for almost 3 years. With only new additions and ways for me to hate control. Namely people claiming they would perform better in freelance is bs when you come out with no zones capped

    • In my experience about 75% of the games are against some sort of fire team usually a four stack or larger. I just watched the player list if I see fire teams I back out I'm not falling for it. Bungie is clearly trying to consolidate the playlist into fire team stomps again. The only thing they will hear is lack of play time so don't play it.

      • No, because how else will the best players farm inferior players? They need to prove how good they are by beating players that don't know what a radar is and then make YouTube videos about how good they are 🤣

        • What Bungie needs to accept is that solo matchmaking should be a MAJOR priority. I've played this game since day 1 and lost a lot of people to Bungie's stupid decisions, thereby rendering me a solo player. Now matchmaking needs to cater the that fact. That's the elephant in the room.

          • These posts… i get it as also a solo player, but to me average -blam!- player it rarely even happens… always queued up with other solo players with rarely getting a duo in it… If we’re talking about team balancing i agree 100% that it is a bigger issue but only once have i seen a mercy this season. Freelance was way more sweaty imo…

          • So you don't enjoy playing against streamer stacks that scream coms at each other while draining their little gaming chair in sweat? Weird that sounds like so much fun as a SOLO player. The playerbase is dwindling because Bungie pretty much abandoned the game, specifically the pvp portion. They know their non existing updates and low quality zero effort strategies will just lead to even less pvp players and thats why they cant split player pools anymore with SBMM between freelance and regular. Playerbase is just too low. Their fault entirely. If only we had a competent dev working on the game.

          • Yeah, this Fireteam matchmaking with SBMM on top is painful. It doesn't help that the sandbox is in the absolute worst state it's ever been either. I'm thinking I'll sit this one out. The emblem looks cool n all, but it's not worth the hassle.

              • Freelance Iron Banner was excellent. It was probably the most fun I had with PvP. Unfortunately, the removal of freelance mode reveals that Destiny PvP has a more telling problem... their PvP player base is extremely low and they don't know what to do to fix it.

                • They don't lobby balance, they just clump people in there, so you might be getting players of the same skill but once you get any teams, they both have the advantage of coms and they also screw up everything because unless they're in high school they're most likely in different time zones which mess up the connections for the rest of us.
