Good day everyone! Me and my friend were talking about how fun zombies from CoD, firefight from Halo, and horde from GoW were very fun from time to time, but did not have a real incentive to play them like they could have in Destiny. I feel like this is something that could benefit the game well if done correctly. Just some ideas that we came up with in our short little conversation. - [b]Loot Based[/b] As all good things in Destiny should be it has to have loot. But what if this was one of the few modes that could get you to endgame gear that you could do as long as you put time in to do? A simple solution off the bat is bounties that let you unlock a chest on certain waves, say every 10, and can only be unlocked on that wave. That way you have to make a decision as a player to risk that chest or risk your key that you worked hard to get. - [b]Difficulty[/b] An important thing to think of, How difficult can you make it before the loot is not worth it? I feel like this would be the hardest thing to balance as you could make it as hard a GM nightfall if you got to that wave, but can you give out GM grade loot? I feel like it would be something you would have to opt into from the start so you would be able to change your loadout around. - [b]Levels / Locations[/b] I feel like this is where many cool things could happen. Lore wise we always hear of great battles like The Twilight Gap or The Burning Lake, even the Six Fronts. But we never get to experience these battles ourselves. Maybe this is a way that we can etch our Guardians name further into history with new battles. - [b]Gameplay / Loot[/b] Something else that could also be reimplemented is strike specific loot, but it would be (Insert name here) loot. I loved trying to get strike specific loot in D1, it really helped keep the game alive for me in between content. As far as actually gameplay loop I feel like daily bounties or something similar would be needed in order to either open chests or open the mode itself. Maybe even both were mode specific bounties can earn you keys to get in and open chests faster, than ones you can get playing anywhere. Boss levels can get thrown in as well before a chest. But I think the most important thing would be no respawns, only team revives. It would make it an actual survival game mode and then if the whole team wipes you are kicked back to orbit, to have to reopen the mode again. Our thought for waves to loot ratio was every 5-10 waves there is a loot cache room, you have to decide there to get the chest or wait to see if you can make it to the next one, or if you have multiple keys open as many as you have keys. Granted this seems like a very good place to grind out light levels for day one raids, so I feel like it would either have to be capped to a certain point or not opened until the 24 hours are up. This is what I have so far, If you have an opinions or additions on how to make this better please do so. As someone that has played since D1 beta I really do think this is something that can help the game out in the long run.

          I would want a firefight mode like Halo ODST or Reach. With champions being more prevalent with each increasing levels. Added boss phases that are unique from each other. With Limited revives as well. The greater the points the team has, the better the rewards. With a legendary mode of this which will grant activity exclusive rewards or enhanced versions of weapons from that activity. Yeah this may be similar to dares of eternity. But this will potentially be a 4 player game mode. Based on a specific map layout solely. With multipliers, debuff effects, and positive effects. So basically everything good from a GM, and everything good from dares and gambit all put together.

          • We have battlegrounds. Last i checked, most players complain about battlegrounds in its basic form. I doubt they would do anything higher than legend being at a 10 lvl deficit.

            • Great post! I’ve had similar conversations with my friends about a Horde mode as well. Reading your post reminded of the Archon’s Forge activity from Rise of Iron in Destiny 1 because it’s sort of like a horde mode, same with Prison of Elders, but these activities only have a limited number of waves before a boss. I grinded the hell out of Archon’s Forge, mainly for the “Dream Eater” armor set. I think D2 lacks activity-specific armor, the Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit armor sets are all the same armor pieces only difference is the design. So if there [i]was[/i] a horde mode, having activity specific gear that is truly unique to the activity itself would be great. As for how the player is rewarded, as you mentioned every 5-10 Sounds good, but it ultimately depends on how many waves there are in total, and by how much it increases in difficulty as you progress. I’m not really sure how to balance the quality of the rewards in the system itself or how frequent the should be. Whether it’s infinite waves or 50 waves, I think giving players a “Skeleton Key” type item, in which they can choose between a Weapon Chest and an Armor Chest at the end of a boss round or certain number of rounds would be cool. I’m all about player-choice so giving the player at least an option to choose what type of reward they get would be neat.

                I would like a big team pve event. 12 or 18 players against this horde mode, big map, basic objectives to fight for better loot. Like capture plates that give out legendaries if you have all capped at once at the end of each wave.

                • I think they should make a hoard mode for gambit. It would serve as a pve mode for gambit since the pvp aspect is what seems to be the biggest problem for most

                  • Halo ODST Firefight and Halo Reach Firefight were freaking unbelievably good for a solo and for co-op. Gears 5 Horde mode was excellent with friends and the defense building was an enjoyable experience. Horde Modes in Destiny 2 would really get my attention. The Blind Well and Altars of Sorrow are great but my builds are too powerful. The Escalation Protocol on Mars during Heist Battleground was a thrill- I would love to see more of these. I suggest The Drifter as vendor. Zavala has Vanguard Ops and Nightfalls; Shaxx has The Crucible and the Iron Banner for Rank-ups; Drifter has ... Gambit. Gambit has no Wow-factor incentive and all your efforts don't get rewarded. But if not Drifter then give it to Ikora who should have been a vendor a long time ago!

                    • My only addition is for like neomuna for example. At the forefront of calus's invader ship could be endless waves like you mentioned . But IN the patrol zones of the planet. That's really my only input because jump in game mode horde modes are already in the game. Just not the span and girth you're speaking of . All of which you explained sounded awesome
