What was your, or what would have hypothetically been, your reasoning for joining the military?
In light of a couple of recent comments out there on a forum, let's here from the community, eh?

Family and friends kept trying to talk down to me saying I couldn't do it or crap like that, I proved all their dumb-butts wrong. I did it simply because I can, and nobody was going to stop me. I didn't do it for college, I don't give a crap about college, besides, trades are more of a guaranteed job these days. I could use benefits but I didn't get disabled and I am not applying for free money I didn't earn from my own two hands. I don't need a free house loan as I will likely never settle in any one place. I served the one contract and went back to civ-life with my DD-214, I am planning on reenlisting as a prior-service as I am still RE-1A, ready and capable. Semper Fidelis, Marines. A vet...
