I genuinely believe having a forge mode would solve a phenomenal amount of crucible issues currently. The viewpoints shared in the linked video genuinely display what could be one of destiny's best PvP eras should it be implemented correctly. For those who are unaware of what "Forge" is, this is a gameplay mode used in previous games created by Bungie with Halo 3 and Reach most likely being the most memorable for some (like myself). This mode allowed users to create new maps or edit existing ones. In current destiny 2 terms, editing a map may include reducing the size of the map, changing heavy ammo spawn locations, respawn locations, and so on. The major point of having a forge mode similar to what bungie had in the past would allow for more community involvement in the crucible. In reference to the linked video (Sweatcicle - What Destiny 2 Needs To Survive), the average crucible map age is 5.6 years old. With one of the most active global gaming communities with talented artists (who are featured multiple times in every TWAB), Bungie could essentially delegate "Crucible Labs" and allow Crucible modes to play through community-based maps that have been reviewed by Bungie themselves and possibly tweaked slightly to maintain Destiny 2 standard. With Destiny 2 already being an incredibly large game as it is, simply involving the community more and pushing innovation from us could potentially reduce crucible content droughts - possibly meeting Bungie's future vision for crucible should they wish to continue Destiny 2 further (in reference to what lies past The Final Shape). Edit: hottake - crucible weapons should have its own loadout section (as in everyone can choose from the same loadouts)

  • They need to spend far more of the substantial profits they make from Destiny 2 on Destiny 2. They've relied on and outsourced key functionality to third-parties already far too long. A Forge itself would be good but a massive development cost that I'd rather they spent on far more maps, far more regularly.
