The only time I ever go to the reef or even to spider is when I need materials and glimmer for upgrade modules. And that's maybe twice a month. Bungie vaulting places isn't really that big of a deal to me, as long as other content comes out. My main issue with the vaulting were the lack of weapons they had after the vaulting accord. Then they came out with other ways to get some of the weapons back by putting them in Banshee's loot pool. Other than that, it's really not that big of a deal. Bungie let's us know in advance when something gets vaulted and that's usually months in advance. So if you're the type to do everything you need to do last minute on a certain destination that'll be vaulted, that's your problem. Nobody elses.

But just deleting it wasn't the right idea

Being honest I've always found it stupid the don't use the farm for their event space. It's way better set up for "festival of the cost" and "the conning". You could even say that's where Eva lives now and there could be rewards or a story line for just going to visit her from time to time.
