Destiny 2 Won't Let me Use my Wacom Pen Tablet as a Mouse?

Hello everyone! I could really use some help! :Quick Disclaimer: I am physically disabled and incapable of using a traditional mouse + keyboard set up. Please don't tell me what I "should" be using to play the game, just help me if you can, thank you! :) As the disclaimer said I require the use of a Wacom Intuous Pen tablet as a stand in for a traditional Mouse. It has worked wonders in literally every game I have ever played, as these tablets have a built in "Mouse" mode that makes it behave exactly like a traditional one. Every game up to this point clearly reads the mouse moving and responds accordingly, (as in makes your mouse move or controls your view). But for some reason Destiny 2 just doesn't. :( It will allow me to do the buttons for left and right click on the pen itself, so I can aim down sights / fire my weapon, but for some reason moving the pen ("mouse") does not move the cameras view to let me look around. What is weirder still is that the mouse works as per expected in all of the in game menus, but once I load into a map I just can't look around. Even stranger is that if I turn on the tablets "pen" mode, (which normally makes FPS games spin rapidly 360 degrees forever), it actually works! BUT the caveat being it only allows me a range of about 80 degrees, so I can never turn around, or look fully up or down, functionally useless except for in the limited range of whatever view you happen to be looking when you load into a map. To explain that mode and why i can't use it, its like if your mouse was locked to your desk, so you could never lift it and move it and place it back down. So once you ran out of room to the left or right you just could never turn any further than that because you can't lift your mouse and quickly place it down and keep turning. it is why the "Mouse" mode I require is so important, with it I can lift my pen from my tablet and place it back down to recenter it accordingly, behaving exactly as your mouse does. I know this is an incredibly odd topic and probably one very few will have experience with. But if anyone could offer me help that would be amazing. Why won't it register the mouses movements and turn that in to in-game camera movement? I really love Destiny 2 and I just want to play it, I don't know why this just isn't working. It feels like the game is just very poorly optimized for non-traditional gamers. In ways that every other game seems to have. And it saddens me because I'm sure this type of stuff limits a lot of disabled gamers who would otherwise love to play and enjoy this awesome game, but are restricted to unorthodox ways to play which just fundamentally don't work here even if they do in other games. :( If anyone knows why this is happening, please let me know. Maybe I should contact Bungie Support about it? Anyhow, Thank you all so very much and I wish you all the best! Have a great day! (PS: What's your favorite class? :D )

  • This was posted over two years ago, and located this thread since I had the same issue, so I'm sure you figured out that it is Wacom that is the issue. I purchased a wacom tablet recently and it did the same thing so I bought another brand of tablet and it worked fine.

Through the FAQ and information I've found online, you could check to see if changing the Mouse Height setting in your Mouse mapping for the pen and tablet might fix the issue you're having. It looks like Pen mode sets the tablet as your screen and moves the mouse accordingly, so when you move left, then lift it up and move it to the right and place it back on the tablet, it reads it as the mouse moving all the way to the right, not staying in-place in preparation for you to move it further. So, Mouse mode should be the correct mode. The default Mouse function should work, and it's odd that it works in the menus but not as part of the action bit of gameplay. The fact that it works in the menus to move the cursor around shows that the game is reading it properly and allowing it to act as a mouse. Another user mentioned making sure you're using the actual Drivers from the manufacturer, but, again, as the game is reading it as mouse movement, I'm not sure if that would make a difference, but you could try it. I have poked Player Support about the issue with a link to your thread here, so hopefully it'll get eyes on it if you can't figure out a fix for the issue. I can't guarantee that you'll receive a message or that it'll be a quick fix if it is something on Bungie's end to do with the game, but I'll keep my claws crossed that your issue gets resolved soon. Good luck, Guardian! P.S. I'm a Titan main, all the way, Missile Striker! A very Mobile Titan at that.

  • Try downloading Wacom drivers instead of Microsoft drivers

  • May I recommend the Xbox Adaptive Controller?
