How About... Sparrow Mods?

Who knows if SRL will ever come back. I definitely wouldn't mind if it did. I was pretty good at it. But even if it doesn't come back... Well, we've got an updated Ghost system for resource and XP farming. We also have Armor Transmog now (say what you will about it). Why don't we throw in an updated system for customizing our Sparrows since we're going that route? Now we've got some options here to make a show of our Sparrows. Obviously we have a Shader slot to change the colors of them. Currently that is the only thing we can customize on our Sparrows. But most Legendary and Exotic Sparrows typically come with 3 built in or rolled traits on them with some exceptions (like Always On Time with its 4 traits that are all built in). Most commonly found on Sparrows are: - Sparrow Engine (Custom Drive/Tuned Drive/Standard Drive) - Sparrow Mod: Random Trait (Improved Assembler/Transmat Preloader/Vernier Thrusters...) - Sparrow Mod: Destabilizers (found on almost all Exotic Sparrows nowadays) I can see these all being reworked into a new mod system for Sparrows. As far as basic functionality, we have: - Regular movement/base speed - Boost - Side thrusts If we were to throw in stats for a Sparrow system that could be looked at or changed, I could see base speed and boost along with handling/turn speed, durability, charge rate for the boost, boost/thrust efficiency (how much energy it takes to activate a boost or side thrust), etc. These stats don't have to have radical effects. Just enough to make a Sparrow feel different. Though I could see a situation where some players might sacrifice handling for speed somehow if they had that control (if a sacrifice is needed), maybe even try to mock how Always On Time feels right now. Maybe you could even put Destabilizers on your favorite Legendary Sparrows with a new system. I can see the Sparrow Engine being changed where you can spend some currency on it to mess with the stats somehow. You might even divide the Sparrow Engine into separate new slots for customizing the stats of a Sparrow. The other traits could be approached in a variety of different ways for the system. Cosmetically, if I were to add anything to the system, I'd add a mod slot for a Sparrow Trail. If you leave it empty, it defaults to whatever the Sparrow comes with. But if you insert a Sparrow Trail mod into that slot, you could, say, make the trail use different effects with different colors. I don't know if I'd add another cosmetic slot to the system unless you would want to get into more complex things like general special effects (which a lot of Exotic Sparrows already have, it's what makes them feel Exotic most of the time). Now, the currency. What would you use to purchase mods for your Sparrow? Well, the simplest answer would be [i]Mod Components.[/i] It's not like they're being used for much right now for most players anyways. So... I'd enjoy something like this. It would be a new kind of chase.
