What next, Lord of the Rings vs Warhammer 40k? More serious answer after actually considering it a bit: I think the Wizards have the edge. There are so many spells and such that bend reality in different ways. While Star Wars can destroy solar systems the Wizards could respond by getting together to just Uno Reverse the lasers or teleport the planet or some crazy shit. 1v1, Wizard's have range and a toolbox of shenanigans to outmaneuver and mess with a force user. *Teleports behind you* Oops your lightsaber is suddenly a newt!

  •
More serious answer after actually considering it a bit: I think the Wizards have the edge.
Ah, there we go! I agree, wizards offense leans towards trickery while most force-users are brute power. Interesting... But, as LahDsai said, the wizards lost a war against the muggles, but was that because the muggles overwhelmed them with shear numbers? Would an army of Mandalorians overcome an army of wizards? Does a force-user need a lightsaber to win if they can kill someone by standing next to them?! WHAT'S GOING ON?!

  • Ah, I've only been really considering Force vs Magic! Another thing the Wizarding World is full of is MONSTERS. Basilisks turning men to stone, Dragons burning men to cinders, Boggarts becoming what men fear, Dementors sucking the lives from them, and so many more. Sure, Star Wars also has its monsters, but most of them are mundane beasts. And another thought occurs that you haven't considered: this means the Wizarding World has Earth on its side...how could Star Wars hope to compete against... CHUCK NORRIS

  • But, yes, I agree. Harry Potter doesn't compare to the might of StarWars. Now tell me why. Tell me why StarWars is better.

Star Wars is worse because it has the Prequels, the EA Battlefront games, and that absolute pile of non canon shit that is The Old Republic.

  • Wait, I worded that wrong. What one is better, power-wise? Besides...
Prequels = memes goldmine Revan is canon, so Old Republic is whether Disney likes it or not EA... can't say anything there, although the split-screen mode is decent fun with a good friend!
Revan being canon is one thing, but the Old Republic shitting all over his and the Exiles stories with their terrible fanfiction is another. The magic in Harry Potter can bend reality and casually create pocket dimensions. Force Lightning tickles Oh! And -blam!- Prequel Memes. Seriously, what is with 2000s kids basing their entire personalities around the same four shitty memes? How utterly pathetic.

  • I was a bit drunk and in a silly mood last night, but I stand by that bit. Prequel memes are on the same level as 420, Yolo, and Swag.

  • Ah, but in this post, the Old Republic is more canon than the sequels. Besides, how could Revan exists, but not the Sith Emperor, Vitiate, who played a major role in his story? Nonetheless, I'll count it a non-canon since this post is for light-hearted debates! Force lighting tickles? I guess it does, unless... is Darth Sidious using force lighting to tear through time and space canon? Don't know... I think force storms might be canon... BLAST IT DISNEY, WHY'D YOU HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING?! But, creating pocket dimensions is no small feat if done a certain way. For example, if it's relatively easy to do and has no use in combat then... is it really powerful? Pretty sure The Father was doing his own realty-warping thing as well—and that's canon!

  • As far as I'm aware that dude didn't exist until the storyline introducing him. They left it vague to fill in later and instead of Obsidian they got... all of that nonsense. Aside from the Sequels and probably some books I've not read, Force Lightning is a really flashy power that makes people twitch for a bit before something else happens. Practicality of using a pocket dimension suitcase in combat aside, my point was that Wizards can do weird shit that's really only limited by imagination. Pretty sure daddy died. Death is easy to cheat if you just put pieces of your soul into a bunch of random things.

  • Hang on, we need to do this before moving on—In this debate you have two choices for canon: the Disney canon or the beloved canon. Disney Canon: Sequels are canon and any other event/character Disney chooses. Beloved Canon: Books, comics, and games all count, but anything Disney, does not. I'm gonna have to wait for you to reply to that ^ before I further discuss how ticklish force lightning is. Lol, in the original saga, it does seem rather weak. But, in the comics, books, movies, games, or sequels... Aye, wizards are creative-reality-manipulating tricksters. But that reality-manipulation is rather limited when compared to... The Father, a single being who can alter reality on much grander scales than wizards, like creating an entire world that doesn't exist within the universe unless he wills it. And yeah, he died by a silly knife, but others could attain his power give or take a couple thousand years without the silly knife nonsense.

  • Meh, include it all for funsies. I just really hate the Old Republic game. As for Father, what good is power if he never really uses it? Apathy is death.

  • Include it... all? The Father isn't idle; he uses his powers to influence the universe and its events to better suit his will while also keeping his children in check. And if I can include it all, then force-reality manipulation just expanded to a galactic scale. I'm talking the Art of Force Shrink, killing anyone in one's field of view, chucking moons at each other, conjuring physical weapons out of thin air, tearing holes in the fabric of reality, walking through solid matter, thought bombs, depriving someone of their senses—I'm still geeking out about the possibilities! There's even throwing stars—not the ninja kind, actual STARS. Lol, that means Beldorion is a thing. Go on, google him. He's probably the only person—erm—thing that can rival Chuck Norris. And then there's the myriad of creatures... but we'll leave out those and think of this as a 1v1 for simplicity's sake. Eh... gotta do some work then hit the sack. Been fun talking with you! Maybe tomorrow, yeh? ...unless someone else dares to challenge you whilst I'm absent, lol. I mean, you made things really interesting by making it ALL canon. ...other than fanfictions of course, because that wasn't mentioned and just... yeah. No.
For now, what's your favorite Wizarding World scene?
