Overload Champions. The infinitely healing, often two-shotting, hyper aggressive, often teleporting champions with way too much health.
Every single time I see an overload champion, I INSTANTLY get pissed off. Barrier champions have a plethora of weaponry available to tackle them, and they also aren't too much of a threat. Unstoppable champions can be intimidating, but 99% of the time you can cheese them, or use an unstoppable mod that with a single shot, staggers them, and they can be chain staggered.
Overloads, though? fat -blam!-ing chance. Fallen Overload Champions just teleport unless staggered, and Vex Overload Champions have minotaur bumrush AI and two tap you at high speed with explosive weapons.
So what do we have to work with here? Alright, so overload auto, which requires dumping half your clip into the enemy to stagger them. Not easy when they're either blinking around more than a bladedancer in D1, or rushing you down like you took his money.
Alright so overload auto is out, what else we got? Overload scout! That's a lot better.... except you also have to dump half your clip into the teleporting bum rushing champion?
Uhhh.... okay what about an exotic? Oh! We have Divinity! That only requires you to do an entire raid in one session without any -blam!-ups, and said raid also happens to be so janky that you'd think it was made by the Yandere Developer. Plus, it's a trace rifle, so it has pretty much nothing that synergizes with it.
Oh, that's it. Okay, but surely the Overload Champions can't be that bad in Legend and Master Lost Sectors, can they? What's that? they're the most common enemy type, and are probably responsible for more guardian deaths and failures than any other enemy combined?
Okay, that's kinda garbage to hear that. You wanted to get this season's exotic from a lost sector? I'm sorry, but your options are very limited so you should probably just give up. Farm bunker e15 or something when the stars align and your armor slot and the right modifiers are available when it's on Legend difficulty, because you may as well just give up on doing any Legend lost sector with Overloads in them.
tl;dr salty boi is tired of un-fun artificial difficulty scaling due to bullshit enemies. Trying to get a cool thing in the game shouldn't be a punishment.

I'd honestly have no problem at all with overload champions and think they are a nice bit of added difficulty without going too far if they would just take away their ability to teleport.

It takes 3 shots from a scout to proc overload rounds, 2 if the weapon has explosive rounds

I find them difficult to stun
-
Oh I know the struggle fallen overlords teleporting every second is so bloody annoying and they are probably the most annoying parts in legendary lost sectors to do by yourself. Same for Vex ones as well.
-
The problem isn’t with the champion. They’re all easy to deal with. It’s the restrictive loadout that is the problem. Just make them choosable mods instead of fixed artifact mods. Playing Bungie’s way sux azz.
-
I hate the champion mechanic as a whole.
-
Div Inity No more skill spaming and ultra healing 🙌
-
They're broken....and they call attention to an aspect of Bungie's approach to "difficulty" that need to be re-examined. There are NO cooldowns on any NPC abilities. So by the time scale up a Tier 2 enemy to the point where it can spam multiple abilities at once...and continuously....you wind up with somethign that isn't challenging. But annoying and game-breaking. Overload captains are so broken, that there is basically on one way to kill them....and ARs can't stun them. Even with the right mod equipped. Bungie needs to retune these Champions....and they need to stop using the mod system as a way to underhandedly control player load outs. Its annoying, and its burning out the player base.

Edited by A1CBeers: 2/10/2021 4:03:32 PMI never thought I'd see someone complain about champions. Really? They're easy. If you don't know how to handle them, that's on you. There's nothing wrong with them.
-
Nah. You have it wrong. The problem isn't the champions themselves. The REAL issue is the stupid mods not functioning properly. It sucks getting killed because your auto rifle decided not to stun the enemy at the single worst possible moment.
-
You missed out the option: "I don't really mind them" I'm not sure why anyone would like or hate them. Just stun them, melt them and move on...
-
Overload arrows on the the new bow works very well against Champions. Yeah they don't fall fast like last season but it's not impossible. I like to focus them over the mobs for breathing room.
-
Last season they were easy. Overload auto with Duskfield Grenade and surge eater amd momentum transfer(iirc). All you had to do was nade them for multiple disruptuons and shoot with auto to get nade back. Spam freeze and sword maybe an extra nade. Was pretty easy even at 1280. Just requires planning unlike other adds in the game.
-
I'm sorry, but for the first time ever saying this. Get gud. Seriously wtf? If you can't beat a simple overload. Idk man. Don't ape around every corner?
-
ngl , they’re probably the easiest to deal with if you use a scout
-
Just remove champions in general and this game might actually be fun.
-
I actually dislike barrier champions more when playing extremely high level content. They have that heal, a shield with considerable health because of the difficulty, AND they sometimes still shoot at you while they are invulnerable. Barriers are not a problem in easier content, but they scale up fairly harshly.
-
Forgot about grenades and abilities from the artifact
-
they add a new challenge to the game, yes they can be annoying sometimes but with the nades and scout they are very easy to stun and kill
-
Edited by LikwiD_SmOkE22: 2/9/2021 4:03:54 PMMy thing w overloads is that they only react properly to the overload grenades in the dsc.. They'll run right through them in the daily lost sectors or master/gms

You need Gnawing Hunger with Actium War rig, I took them all out in nightfall yesterday with randoms. So a lot of burst with gnawing hunger and then you grenade them with witherhoard and then one more round burst with gnawing hunger which you then can finish of with a sword. I will need a replacement for gnawing hunger after this season though, hope they will release a decent auto rifle...

Having spent longer this season than any other dealing with champions either solo in lost sectors or with a team in GM overloads are easier to deal with than barrier servitors that protect all enemies around them. Use a scout rifle with explosive payload staggers in a couple of shots. Add duskfield grenade with overload mod & the mod that returns grenade on champion stagger with a couple of anarchy shots once staggered. Keep spamming grenades to keep the stagger & let anarchy do the work.
